I was prescribed Zonegran for severe migraines. We had tried Topamax but I had several side effects to that medication. It took a while for us to regulate the amount of zonegran needed.I was taking 400-500 mgs daily. I lost 40 lbs, was nauseated, had difficulty concentrating. It was worth it to have control over the dibilitating migraines. My quality of life improved. After taking this medication for...

Given to me for back pain. Result is severe joint pains in hip & legs. I cannot find a way to reverse this side effect. Definitely poor Doctoring to prescribe this.

I tried a large number of other drugs to try to control my seizures was approved for the surgery option. Using Zonegran along with Vimpat was a last try before the surgery and has been very successful. I am on a VERY large dose and still face no concern of "addiction". I know when I missed taking med because I feel my equalibrium changes some and my appetite increases quickly. Because of my large dose (800mg) I face confusion and memory recall issues quite often. I decided it was better to face those issues than uncontrollable seizures.Read More Read Less

I give you this Zonegran, you completely block my seizures. However, you've given me depression, weight loss, loss of energy, loss of concentration, and social problems, plus God knows what else. Thinking it's not worth it anymore.

I take 200mg at night right now for juvenile myclonic seizures.. I have only had 4 big seizures in my life that been documented, but mostly bofore I started taking medication, my problems were partial seizures.. This medication takes away the partial seizures which allows me to focus in school, and I never feel like a zombie compared to Topamax.. It is hard adjusting to this medication at first, but I decreased my original dosage after 4 months of taking it..After that it has veen smooth sailing. Read More Read Less

I have been completely satisfied with this med. I was suffering with severe pain in my face for years and lyrica only gave me 50 lbs of weight and felt high all the time. I take 300mg at bedtime and no side affects. Miracle drug for me and I'm down from 174 to 116lbs.

I have only been on Zonegran for a few weeks. I take 200mg at night. So far it has worked better than Tegretol & Keppra. I have no seizure since being on any of the meds, but the side affects of Keppra was not good. I slept in, gained weight, stayed up late. Not real interested in anything. So the Dr. switched me to Tegretol, even thou I begged to to be on Zonegran. He denied me & put me on Tegretol, & once I started taking that pill, all worse side affects happened. I gained a lot of weight the first week. Could not go to the bath room, even taking meds that was suppose to help clean the system. I was really angry. My depression self esteem hit rock bottom, & I just felt like I was on a path of life not looking good. So now here I am, Zonegran. So far so good. Thanks to reviews, & studying seizure meds, it has opened doors for me to understand what are my options.Read More Read Less

Great with Seizure relief. Severe weight loss. Eventually extreme Diarrhea. After every test available a thorough research of Zonegran, it turns out the Zonegran is the source of my digestive problems. I am now below weight, can eat very little without extreme diarrhea, and am struggling to get to at desirable succeptible low level of weight. Very frustrationg finding things to eat that my body won't reject. Hve lowere dosage of Zonegran, without any Seizures.

Started taking this medication in lieu of lyrica....what a blessing! I not only lost the weight gained from the lyrica, but all the heaviness of the joints and the pain has disappeared. It is the difference of night and day with my life. I still have good and bad days with my fibro pain and back pain, but I have lost 24 of the 40 pounds that I gained while on lyrica. I did this with no effort or diet change, but feel so much better. Now I am watching my food intake and making better choices with what I eat......just been great!Read More Read Less

i was prescribed 100mg of this drug 1st, made me sleepy, depressed, no energy, loss of interest, and angry....dr adjusted it to 25mg hoping symptoms would go away. didn't happen! I would be very careful w/ this med along with topamax...did same thing. it did lessen the migraines, but i DO NOT like the side effects at all! I don't want to be and cannot be depressed and have such a lack of energy when i have a 2 yr old son running around getting in2 everything and a life 2 live. it's hard enough fighting depression without having a med making u feel that way. i stopped taking it on my own and will contact dr ASAP. I DO NOT LIKE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THIS MED! please be careful if ur dr prescribes it Read More Read Less

I have temporal lobe epilepsy which I had surgery to correct on 7/25/10. For several years I had intractible seizures, and my body just plain didn't seem to like anti-convulsants. I suffered with side effects, some life threatening (literally), until this was introduced. I must admit, even since the surgery I have had quite a few strong auras (I get complex partial seizures) but absolutely NO side effects. And in 8 months of being on this medication, I've only had my dosage increased once for seizure activity. That's incredible for me. It usually gets increased monthly. I will be taking this until I'm finally able to be weaned off of anti-convulsants altogether (here's hoping...:-)Read More Read Less

I am now on my second round of taking Zonegran for Bipolar Disorder. First time maxed out at 600mg- worked GREAT but I lost too much weight after 18 months. Now, after app. 18 months, weight is being maintained with other meds. Great med for my mood stabilization (for the most part)!

I've been on this medication for only about a month for migraines. I have only had 2 small headaches a lot less than what I was usually getting before the meds. The only side effects I experience are problems w/coordination and problems w/my monthly cycle on going bleeding as well as tired and weakness. But for the most part, my migraines are somewhat under control.

This is my 3rd anti-convulsant in the past 12 months. My body doesn't tend to respond well to them. This is the ONLY one with which I haven't experienced negative side effects! I had brain surgery 2 months ago during which the source of my seizures was removed and am still taking the same dose. I have had 1 seizure since being on Zonegran which, ironically, was after my surgery, but I had missed a dose the prior evening. Overall this drug is a Godsend compared to the other anti-convulsants I've had (Lamictal, Trileptal.)Read More Read Less

I was perscribed this med for migrains in addition to my other epilepsy medicines. At a low dose of 100mg my the daily headaches are somewhat undercontrol. I'm having difficulty sleeping and my eyes are burning red and sore. The symptoms are similar to pink eye, except it comes and goes throughout the day. I can't stand the chronic eye irritation and pain and going to discontinue use.

I was taken a 100mg every 12hrs,for about 4-5wks.while slowly tapering off of lamictal, which caused me blurred vision.my side effects while taking the zonegran were much worse.I had a very hard time concentrating,to the point that i couldn't even put my sentences together, weight loss due to loss of appetite, just not my self. After just a few days with out taking it i felt much better, much more talkative and alert, hopefully I'll be myself when I'm back on Lamictal. I'd much rather have to wear glasses then to feel and act like a zombie.Read More Read Less
