I was given a short course of Tylenol #3 with Codeine for pain following a dental procedure. It helped, but was not as helpful as Vicodin. I would say this drug would be good for less acute/severe pain, while Vicodin would be better for stronger pain control.

Do not like the dizzy feeling after taking it. Is there any other sleep enhancement that does not have codeine or other addictive drug?

Tylenol #3 was prescribed, along with an antibiotic, because of a bad toothache and probable infection. Tylenol #3 did absolutely nothing to relieve the pain. I took one pill at bedtime (recommended dose of one or two pills). I had to take another one 2 hours later---still no relief. Last night I tried taking two Advil, and that worked much better. The antibiotic is clearing up the infection, but I'll stick with Advil for pain relief.

I recently had brain surgery to have a large tumor removed. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with Codeine. It was like taking sugar pills. This medication only made me sleepy, tired, and did not help with my pain. My normal prescription was Hydrocodone, 10mg. They wanted to give me meds that would keep me from being so drowsy while hospitalized, well the T3's were not the way to go!!! I stayed out of it.

I have been on this medication for about 12 years now. I think I have become allergic to it, but I am not certain. I have very dry skin, and have burning sensation on my face, have stomach problems and have had severe sinus problems. However, I was a smoker, but quit 7 months ago. My sinus problems have lessened, but I still have popping in my ears, which is fluid. My eyes are puffy and are red. I am not a drinker. I get hives when I wear my brace too long (it is somewhat tight). I have had so many health test done: x-rays, CT scans, of my lungs, sinus and brain and nothing has been found. I have stomach problems and have had upper and lower GI tests done, and was told I have Barrets disease. I am taking medication for it but i don't believe it is working and perhaps I am allergic to it, not sure. I think I am going to die soon if what is wrong with me is not found out soon. Can you help? I have found the drug to only dull the pain a little bit and also make me constipated. I can take without food but found that it gave me a stomach ache and made me FEEL like i had to go to the bathroom, though i couldn't. I would only recommend this drug to people with minor pains and maybe take a stool softener with it, especially if you have problems going in the first place.

Pain doc gave me T3 in place of Ultram/Tramadol since my primary doc had given me Cymbalta for arthritis pain. Apparently there's an issue with taking Cymbalta w/Tramadol since both work on Seratonin. So I've been taking this T3 for 4 days now and I've had no pain relief, only severe stomach pains & drowsiness with total lack of motivation. I'll keep taking it to see if things improve once it gets in my system but so far I'm not impressed with using it for chronic joint pain. I have multiple bulging & torn discs + Osteoarthritis damage in entire spine, hips & hands, so my daily activities depend on my pain level and whether or not I can bend over without screaming. I do remember years ago T3 helped quite a bit with menstrual cramps but for me it has not yet helped with the mechanical pains associated with spinal & joint issues.Read More Read Less

I was given this medication because I had a sore throat and chest congestion. I could barely talk. When I take the medicine I can eat without it hurting and I can talk better.I'm not coughing as much either. I was suprised because I have never heard of it being used to treat cold like symtoms only pain. I does make me feel a little fuzzy and kinda sleepy but not bad I can still function and take care of my kids. I am not used to taking medication like this so it may not affect you the same.

I just had 2 bone spurs shaved down, one on my bottom gum and one on my top gum in my mouth.. I have no bottom teeth at all and i only have 11 on top.... Throughout all of the teeth removing surgries i was on the 500mg vicodin which seemed to work ok and halfway decent. But with this surgery i was put on the tylenol 3 with codedine.. And all it does it dull it slightly but i've noticed it has made my knees hurt/achy and my whole leg hurt Which i dont understand But it could be working a little better on me. But at least it's dulling the pain in my mouth to where I can bear it. So i'm half and half with this medication. The time on medication is less than one month because i just had the surgery done going on 2 days ago.Read More Read Less

Tried taking it for osteoarthritis of the knee. The only effect that it had on me was to make me cranky which I didn't need since I was in pain and already cranky enough. To be fair, I'm used to taking oxycodone occasionally for back pain so I'm guessing that this wouldn't have worked for me anyhow. They tell me this stuff's addictive, I just don't get it. It doesn't make me high and it doesn't work. Why would I get addicted to it? I have the same experience with oxycodone as relates to not getting high. Those drugs just don't affect me that way. I'd be happy if they worked at all!Read More Read Less
