This medication is not effective for anal itching due to hemorrhoids.

I used this to support bowl movements past a swollen prostrate but found it caused my blood to collect and rob me of normal blood flow in other areas of my body. This may explain several of the previous comments.

Did not use it for long. I broke out in a rash on my arms and stomach that was very itchy.

I also use for anal itching. It really does reduce the swelling associated with hemorrhoids.

I had no idea that Preparation H could cause me to lose so much energy and cause a bit of a mental lapse ; and I only took it for a couple of days. It did get rid of the hemorrhoid but the side effects were so bad to where as I would never recommend this product to anyone. It is the enemy; especially if you have any type of viruses or immune deficiencies.

It caused a very serious itchy rash one year ago (Aug 2011) and has not gone away one year later. I would not recommend it to anyone.

this product is easy to use and find. it works to some degree. not all my pain was relieved or the other issues for moderate stuff it works. mine needed surgery so probality not the best advice from me.

I started treatment in the evening, feeling just fine, besides the internal hemorrhoid. I woke up feeling exhausted and coudln't even start my day. I went into work a half hour late and felt so bad that I had to sit down. My mind was running just fine, but my body had absolutley no energy at all and I felt simply bad all over. No muscle pain, but just no muscle energy. Before I left for work I inserted another suppository and then after I left work sick and about an hour later (5 hours after the first insertion of the day) I inserted another one, still not comprehending the correlation. Then it hit me and I stopped using the suppositories. I felt better about 5 hours later and the next morning I was back to my old self. I can't beleive a suppository could make me feel so bad! I am not on any medication for anything, so I wasn't worried about any adverse reactions for high blood pressure or any other warning the box explicitly stated. Is bleeding associated using this medication?

I bought Preparation H for a hemorroidal episode after a severe cold/flu, where I coughed so much that I was concerned I would loss control of my bladder. It worked for the first couple of days controlling the pain, but then pain started radiating from my entire rectum, not just where the hemorroid was located. Now, I have constant pain and itching around the area, and I have developed what is called an anal fissure. I stopped using Preparation H, and started using "Balneol" which provided instant relief. I would not use Prep H again, as I believe it made the condition worse. It is just a matter of getting the area to finally heal, and with the "Balneol" (to stop the itching) and "Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment", (and drinking lots of water)the area is slowly healing. used prep h when I felt going but could not

Really minimizes discomfort, quickly taking care of this delicate and unfortunate problem.
