I and my little sister have IBS since we were in our 20's. We have been on the floor rolling in pain sometimes for hours.When a dr gave my bentlyn I tried it. Only 1 pill calmed it down. I dont have it vrey often but when i do it feels like m-80's are exploiding in parts of my colon.sitting on the pot with a bucket vomiting. Its awful painful. but t bentyl hardly ever 2 and mabe 4 x a year. BUT IT WORKS. So as needed only.

I have pseudo seizure and it made my stutter worse

For people asking if Bentyl helps with severe period cramping, it does. That is why I am on it. I also take it when I have an ovarian cyst rupture (which is sooooo painful, more painful than labor to me) But, my cramps were debilitating and this takes them away, makes me a little loopy but it's not bad, worth the pain relief. Miracle drug! I have to be able to care for my family and our home and not curl up in a ball ready to cry for up to 7 days every month and this allows me to function! I have been taking it on and off since I was 13 first took it at the hospital when a cyst ruptured. I was in the hospital once to twice a month until I was 17 with ruptures, now I am 27 and take them mostly for severe cramping at that time of the month. I don't take it all the time. Just started taking this. Mostly makes me sleepy. I think it eases my stomach cramping though. Seems to have a calming effect.

I had to go to Emergency room due to having stool that was the consistency of water for 2.5 days. I could not eat, my stomach cramped up so bad and so did my bowl track I was crying. The hospital gave me a shot of Bentyl in my leg, with the iv of Sodium chloride and in a few hours I was feeling much better. But now I have a sore throat and what appears to be the flu or start of a cold..lol

this treatment has caused me a lot of problems.and I would not reckenmond it to no one, its horriable.

I can tell you that I've tried other things like Linzess and Amitiza, but Bentyl is a winner. It continues working and I am very very grateful, as it alleviates pain constipation, but most of all, the excess gas building up in my colon. I actually have more regular and solid bowel movements, the air blocked any waste from moving in my colon and never came out in one solid movement. The side effects can be out of this world: Dizziness, fatigue, confusion and and psyche related things, but I'd rather deal with that than the intestinal issues. I have IBS and have had it for over 40 years. Bentyl helped me but after being on it for a while, it has made me very nervous and I have a dry mouth.

I have been using this for about a week and it has been such a good experience! It helps the cramping so that I can go places without being in HORRIBLE PAIN. The only thing I would mark it down in ease of use is that you have to take it a half hour-hour before you eat which is kind of annoying. But that is a small price to pay for some relief.

Doctor prescribed this medication after months of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea. I have allergic colitis and IBS. This medication eased the pain for a day. They next day I took it, I started having really dry mouth, shakes, dizziness, muscle tightness, chest pains, headache, more nausea, loss of appetite, memory declined and depth perception was WAY off. Bentyl was prescribed to me because I hads horrible backerial infection like the severe flu. and was pooing very frequently with insane diareeah and cramps... this medicine Bentyl I feel gave me horrible heart burn. and indigestion I feel. over all. didn't really help me with the stomach cramping either?

I have been dealing with severe upper abdominal pain for about 4 months now. I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and Pancreatic issues. I have been on every medication you can name for this issue. I had my gallbladder removed and the doctor's told me that after having it removed, the bile duct in my pancreas is being blocked and the sphincter muscle is in a spasm. I was just at the ER tonight for it making that 4 times in 2 weeks for this pain. The doctor tonight prescribed Bentyl for the pain and after one dose it seems to help it. I have been treated in my home country (France) for the past 8 years for severe abdominal/stomach pain. They took my appendice out, then my gall bladder, then they diagnosed me with diverticulosis saying they had to take about 1foot and 1/2 of intestine out, etc. stones, etc. I arrived in the US over a year ago and was twice in ER with excruciating pains. They did a colonoscopy and finally my american gastro-anterologist diagnosed IBS (with my help as I had been reading on the Internet and suggested it to him.) He give me Dicyclomine 10mg and I have only taken it a few times in case I needed it and I must say this is a miracle drug for me. It is now known that our intestine is our second brain since it has as much or more serotonin, dopamine, etc as the brain has. And in case of emotions, anger, frustration, etc. , intestines are the first to react. Today, I was angry, frustrated, etc. about a work issue. Dry Mouth,Make me a little off thinking

I am 80. have been blessed with good health, until my gall bladder stopped functioning two years ago. I won't go into a myriad tries the doctors suggested. none of them worked. just by happechance a nurse confided in me that she used Align once a day and Bentyl before each meal. that was three months ago. I adopted her comment and have had much better results, though I must say every now and then I will have an invasion of IBS. when that happens, I go through it and wait for relief, which is never far away.Read More Read Less

Bentyl is making me dizzy, light headed, and very fatigued. Hopefully it wears off soon. I have a long day ahead of me. But it is better than going every half hour.

Only used periodically as needed. Never exceed four per day, oral. Works overnight for me.
