For a couple sleepless nights,I had severe couphing "episodes"(as I called them)... to the point of choking / gagging. My regular doctor was not available so I went to an urgent care type of provider for help. After initial exam, and x rays, was told I had a bit of bronchitis and what my options were for medical treatment.#1 Mucinex or #2 Codein. I was told if it(coughing) was keeping me up at...

I had a partial lobectomy (removal of partial or all of lung)in 1991. Im very prone to bronchitis and pneumonia since my surgery. At least 1-2 times a year i contract one or both of these. My physcian prescribes a 10 day supply w/2 refills. No other medication i have ever taken for non productive cough helps me more than TUSSIONEX. With in 20-30 min. my cough is gone.As far as cost i have very good ins. my cost is $5.77 per bottle. This is the best medicine for cough i have ever taken. Taste very good, kind of like WUERTHERS candy.Read More Read Less

Well first time i got Tussionex I was real sick. I work second shift at the time a too a nap before going to work. I left note for babysitter to wake me up early. she tried bu had very hard time. at work if i sat down i fell asleep. I don't take 2x a day if i need to be awake. At night it a miracle cause it stops the coughing allowing me to sleep. So when I'm sick and have coughing preventing me getting sleep Tussionex is my cough syrup of choice.

If you need to really get rid of your cough this is the best medicine on the planet. Do NOT confuse this PRESCRIPTION syrup with anything over the counter. It is expensive but worth every penny. Yes you will feel sleepy and you must be careful and take an exact dosage. Any other cough syrup is laughable compared to Tussionex.

Well it certainly cured the cough. Not sure I'll ever function normally again as with one dose and one dose only I slept about 18 hours and couldn't put one foot in front of the other for 2 days post med. But I'm surely not coughing!

THIS PRESCRIPTION WAS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED FOR ME I HAD A CONSISTENT DRY COUGH THAT WOULD NOT GO AWAY. AFTER TAKING THIS MEDICATION THE COUGHING STOPPED. I WOULD PREFER THIS OVER CHERRITUSSIUM ANY DAY.

I coughed for two months and couldn't stop after being diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. The doctor gave me 2 antibiotics and 2 cough syrups that had no affect on the cough.I was also prescribed an inhaler.I finally went to an ear, nose and throat doctor and she prescribed Tussionex. I took one dose and immediately stopped coughing. NO JOKE> I have many witnesses to the cough being cured!

I'm 49 years old and have tried numerous kinds of cough meds until i was prescribed tussonex. This is the BEST cough med I have ever taken. It takes cared of the cough as well as the aches and pains associated with a upper respitory infection. This time my dr prscribed hycodan cough med have had only one dose and it doesent even compare to the tussonex. As far as I am concerned the Tussionex Is the BEST. If you have a cough I strongly suggest this medicine to your dr.

I get bronchitis every year, and need a steroid or an inhaler or breathing treatments. This year i'd been coughing for 5 months nonstop. An ER dr prescribed this for me, after 1 dose, my cough almost stopped and after 2 doses....was gone. It got rid of all the congestion and i can finally sleep and stop coughing. Finally some help! I will request this for my next bout of coughing. Only side effect for me was sleepiness...but who cares!....im not coughing anymore!

I am 67 years old and have taken since I was about 14. About once a year I need it, and never need but a few doses. It is something that I try to introduce everyone too because it has been so great for me.

I had not realized that Tussionex contained 10mg hydrocodone per tsp. I knew that it contained hydrocodone, just didn't think it was that concentrated. This explains why it put me to sleep and why it lasts so long. It is truly effective, but be aware that you're getting a pretty good dose of hydrocodone with each tsp. I thought the dose per tsp was maybe a quarter of what it actually is. Do not take this and expect to "operate heavy machinery," as they say. If you take it at night, you'll do well not to fall asleep while watching TV. Pleasant dreams, though. As at least one reviewer noted, you may feel a little drugged for part of the next day. Still, for suppressing a cough, Tussionex can't be beat! Read More Read Less

I have been up with a nagging cough for 3 days. With just one dose of this wonderful syrup I was sleeping like a baby and not coughing. I remember having it several years ago, but didn't remember how quickly it worked on my symptoms.....literally in 2 hours I felt significantly better. I do,however remember the drowsiness and the high of the medicine. Trust me, if you've been up coughing for a few days, the drowsiness and ability to sleep through the night is welcomed. The high too---I'm not a drug-head by any stretch, but the high with the drug makes being sick a bit more tolerable. I LOVE TUSSIONEX!Read More Read Less

DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN NEEDED! This took my cough away; however, it has been 17 hrs. since my last dose (1 tsp) and I still don't feel normal. It makes you feel stoned, slow reaction time and totally trippy. I took 4 doses and I will not take any more. It's just too strong for me. I think it tastes TERRIBLE.

Although expensive, this is the ONLY highly effective cough med in my opinion. A few comments from my experience: 1) Ask you doc or pharmacist about using a syringe to measure your dose (no needle - just the plastic tube and plunger - they are cheap or even free). The dose is fairly small and the thick syrup is hard to measure properly. DON'T use a regular spoon. Even a dosing cup or test-tube style spoon is sketchy. With a syringe, you get a precise dose every time. It is easy to adjust if the standard dose is too much. If you want to take 4.5 mL instead of 5 mL for example, you can easily and reliably repeat that dose every time with a good syringe. 2) The syrup is thick - make sure you shake it REALLY well to get an accurate dose. It does no good to measure precisely if some of the drug has settled in the bottle. DON’T dilute it with anything – this can affect the time-release and cause you trouble! 3) This time-released formula it won't "kick in” as fast as other hydrocodone drugs. Don't get impatient and take more - it works well over a full 12 hours. You may think that one dose isn't enough or maybe your medication is expired or something. This formulation takes a few hours (3 ½ I think) to reach full effect, but it lasts all night - important for a cough med. This is an EXCELLENT drug – very safe and effective when used correctly. I like the fact that it doesn’t contain acetaminophen as an abuse deterrent - this can be rough on your liver in larger doses and over time, so I tend to avoid it unless it is needed - acetaminophen doesn’t help with your cough! If you have a history of dependency/addiction, you might want to ask about other options unless your cough is really serious. I find it easy to self-regulate and wean myself off if I feel I am becoming dependent. I encourage you to read all the “fine print” – there’s a lot of information that your doctor doesn’t always have time to explain to you. Used properly you can’t beat it! Read More Read Less
