This medication was prescribed to abort several of my early miscarriages. I have used this drug with various experiences with pain from minimal requiring only aspirin to severe requiring Vicodin. Each time however it did take time to return to a predictable menstrual cycle.

I was sorry to hear all the horror stories. The meds did not affect me in any unexpected way.It worked well for me for an abortion. The only thing was it dissolving in my mouth.Chalk taste, yuck!Compared to everything else i was going thru, the meds were the least of my problems.

have arthritis NSAIDs probably started some of my gastrointerology problems, but also heriditary issues. started taking 4 x's a day-now down to 1 a day and still have diarea after every meal no matter what I eat. It is getting worse-I now barely made it to bathroom in time-haven't had follow up scan/? to know if it has even helped the ulcer to heal-I had few symptoms before treatment, so could not tell a major difference, except the diarea is worse than the disease

An hour after inserting medication, I had pretty severe cramps followed by vomiting. Pain subsided but came back an hour later. Cramping was extreme, so I called the Dr. They ok'ed me to take a prescription pain killer prior to surgery and that helped. I would not do it again without taking pain killers at the same time.

I was prescribed the drug yesterday within a four week pregnancy. After reading many of the online reviews I was absolutely terrified, which as a result I am writing this review in an effort to help calm some of the nerves out there. Although I have three more nights to go with this, (I am to take 400mcgs over four nights)I have to say my first night was not the nightmarish experiences women on here are going on about. We are all different, I understand that, but here are some things to keep in mind: My Gyno prescribed me Tylenol 2s to take at the same time as administering the drug. I administered the Misoprostal Vaginally and took two Tylenol 2s orally. I also took a Ginger capsule to ward off any nausea. I fell asleep around 10:30, woke up at 2AM with what felt like severe Menstrual cramps. I always have severe cramping with my periods so that being understood I was at least prepared for the type of pain. In comparison to my normal period cramps, I would say the cramping associated with the Misoprostal was an 8/10. That's a high number, but believe me it is manageable. Now, knowing I had to work the next day and didn't want to feel loopy from the Tylenol 2s, I took ONE extra strength Tylenol and went back to bed. Remind your self to keep taking deep breaths. I woke up this morning bleeding heavily but with an overwhelming sense of relief. It is now 9:32 AM and it has tapered off. This is my first day with it, but so far I can say it has been successful and bearable. You will be OK, I promise. Next week I go for an ultrasound to ensure everything has cleaned our properly. I wish all of you luck, and for you to know that you are not alone.Read More Read Less

I had an 11 week ultrasound done only to discover my baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. It decided misoprostol might be the best route for me to avoid risk of scarring from a D&C. I took it on a Monday evening and woke up around 1am with severe contractions but nothing came out until 5am. The changes going on in my body made me vomit, dizzy, and weak. I continued to be in this condition for 3 days and after that I had light-medium bleeding. Whenever I exercised I noticed I would bleed more and more tissue would come out. It has been a week and a half and I am still bleeding and occassionally passing 4-5 inch blood clots or tissue. I can't tell the difference. Although this medication worked for most people, I would suggest getting a D&C. The pain, length of emotional torture, and the entire process tramatized me. Read More Read Less

This was my second time taking this medication after another missed miscarriage. Took at 8 pm and glad I wore a pad that was longer but still thin and for heavy flow. At 6 am I awoke to cramping but not as bad as when I took it 4 years ago. The minute I stood up out of bed I ran to expel contents and felt gush of blood and tissue/pieces coming out. Going on a week now after taking and still bleeding heavy with clots and light tissue, but this is normal after miscarriage. Emotionally difficult but physically, after doing this twice, much easier than a D&C and I feel very effective. Just be prepared that you may see sac and tissue among the blood, my doc warned me both times when taking it so I wasn't shocked. Read More Read Less

I had a blighted ovum and was prescribed misoprostol instead of the D&C. The doctors, midwives, and nurses told me that there would be more bleeding than normal periods, and heavy cramping. So I was also given a pain killer. What the doctors didnt say is that because bleeding can sometimes occur very heavily with sudden passage of placenta/sacs and other tissues, it can lead to very sudden decrease in blood pressure which can cause fainting. The only way to prevent this is by having lots of salty fluids like gatorade, small exercises, and taking rest by sitting or lying down. After taking misoprostol (at 9 1/2 wks pregnancy), I started bleeding after 4 hrs, and passed the amniotic sac and clots after 8 hrs. And I thought I would only be having moderate bleeding from then onwards. But after 4 days, a sudden gush of blood (almost 2 mugs) with lots of tissues came out, and I started sweating profusely and feeling very dizzy. I fainted within seconds which threw me off 10 feet from where I stood. I had to go to the ER and was given IVF. The doctor said my blood pressure dropped to 50-80, and that was the cause for fainting. If you are prescribed this medicine, please make sure you have lots of gatorade/juices from the day you take the medicine till you stop bleeding, especially if you have low blood pressure. I was prescribed this because my ob/gyn felt that I wasnt far along enough to have a d & c. I had a blighten ovum with my first pregnancy and was sad and scared but my dr assured me the meds would be easy on my body. I took it early in the afternoon and bleed and cramped for 9 hours until I passed the tissue. The worst physical and emotional thing I have ever gone thru. It is basically going thru labor, with the contractions, bleeding, pain, as a regular pregnancy except at the end you dont take home your baby. The pill did its job and I had no bad side effects. As soon as I had passed the tissue I was no longer in pain tho I did bleed for two weeks but that is expected with a miscarriage. Read More Read Less

2 Hours after inserting the 2 tablets into vagina, I was awakened by the worst stomach and bowel pains. The pain was like knives inside of me. I had diarrhea and then vomiting also. I did not sleep all night, the pain did not abate until I went under anesthesia the next morning for a d and c.

I was given this medication to help with passing tissue from a blighted ovum. i could only take half the meds because the side effects were horrible. i felt very dizzy, lightheaded and weak. the amount of blood loss was like a super heavy period, at one point i was soaking an overnight pad in about an hour for 3-4 hours. the cramps sometimes got really bad, but thankfully i was prescribed some vicoden. the days following i was still weak and dizzy when standing up, and occasionally had an irregular heartbeat.you will need to take a few days off from work, at least i needed to.i am so thankful to my husband and family for all the support through this sad time.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medicine after finding out that I had a miscarriage just to make sure my body got everything out. I experienced slight cramping but nothing worse than you would expect with a normal period. The was heavy bleeding also but that was expected. The only bad part was the feeling I experienced after taking it. I followed the directions and took it with food but as soon as the medicine kicked in my stomach felt completely empty. Overall though it did what it was supposed to with very little side effectsRead More Read Less

Had a pregnancy, no heartbeat and no natural miscarriage. Chose to terminate versus wait and see as I have PCOS and a prior premature labor with complications. Took Mifeprex 200mg oral 24hrs before, then took 800mg if IBU 20minutes before taking the 800mg of Cytotec(misoprostal) by dissolving in mouth and swallowing (used lifesaver to aid in covering gross taste and producing saliva at doctors direction). 20 minutes passed and my throat, stomach and uterus began spasm very lightly. 2hrs passed and uterine cramps began and had first gush of fluid, other spasms subsided. just shy of 24hrs on medication and regular cramping, with once in a while a big cramp. Have not needed IBU or pain meds today.Read More Read Less

My doctor prescribed this to me in place of having a D&C procedure. At first I was glad because the thought of going thru that again was not what I wanted. She acted as tho it would be fairly easy but with some cramping. I was only able to take two pills before I began to pass out due to the excessive amount of blood I lost. I lost so much blood that my husband rushed me to the ER where I had to have an emergency D&C done. I do not recommend this to anyone at all.
