The 1st time I used Mucinex,I used the 1200mg pack, it kept me up for 36hr straight but it did loosen the congestion so that I could COUGH IT OUT (that is its purpose. not a cough supressant as others have written) This time I bought the 600mg and had no trouble sleeping. I've dealt with brochitis most of my life and if you have chest congestion, this is the best OTC drug you can get. You do ha...

The print on the carton of this Mucinex is SO SMALL, especially if you sick. Found myself approximating dosage...don't ever do that.

I don't see much results for my cough for the last 3 days. NyQuil is much more effective for the cough and allows you to sleep ! My husband had the same cough and congestion but didn't find any relief at night for his cough. What a waste of money. Cheaper to use NyQuil instead.

I came to this website trying to find info on Mucinex after taking my first dose a couple of hours ago. I thought maybe I should go to Urgent Care, but I am too dizzy to drive. Now I see dizziness is common. The box should warn you. The Mucinex website just has cartoons! Thanks WebMD! (And my cough IS much better!)

I had trouble breathing and had dry cough..i decided to take this and it helped tremendously! I am very surprised however that there are no warnings on the package about possible side effects..I have gotten a little lightheaded a couple of times, so I guess I can blame it on the Mucinex!

Went to Doctor with 101 temp. Put on antibolic and Mucinex for chest congestion. After 2 days temp was down and coughing less. I could not understand why I was getting stomach cramps and dizzy feeling, until I read other peoples problem. I could find no side effect information on the package. I will not take this medicine again.

I had a horrible cough and couldn't sleep for 2 days. Head pounding and chest area hurting from coughing so much. Took this in the evening of second day of being ill and felt better by the next morning. Not much coughing and when I do it's actually productive. I did take this in conjunction w/going to the doctor and getting antibiotics but after 3 days of being on meds I'm still feeling ill but coughing is better.

Within 30 min. of taking this so lightheaded and dizzy, my husband almost took me to the ER. I could not even take an deep breath and respond to questions. Took 2 hours for this to pass, but 24 hours later I was still lightheaded. It did cause me to cough more and loosen up the congestion, but the side affects are NOT worth it! Unfortunatly no where on the bottle or box are there any warning about this.

Cedar Fever seasonal allergy made it very difficult to breathe. This drug begins to work immediately if one follows the directions (ONE pill every 12 hrs w/lots of water, NOT 2 pills to begin as several previous reviewers described}. Drug is extremely effective and generally has few or no side effects. Highly recommended for mucus congestion and blocked sinus relief.

I was relieved to see that so many others had side effects, I thought that there was something else wrong with me. The first day I took it, I had a horrible head ache, the next day I felt dizzy and light headed, my eyes burn and my back ached. Thought that I might have a kidney infection. My congestion is not better, but by day three, I am in terrible pain and so dizzy. Tried to check about the side effects though not many were listed on the box or the website. I'm so glad that I found these reviews. I don't feel as if I'm going crazy. Not taking this stuff anymore. Hope it will not take three days to feel better after this stuff.Read More Read Less

I had Flu like symptoms & fever for 3 days. Began uncontrolable unproductive coughing, could not rest for 2 days/nights. Took 2 tablets at night with large glass of water. Heartburn, dry heaves began within 1/2 hour. Several Stomach, throat, tongue & pallet burning continued along with dry heaving for over 12 hours. Twice I was ready to go to ER due to burning. I paced most of the night. If you have a sensitive stomach, take only 1 tablet as a test with food & DO NOT lay down. It did provide dry mucus & lessen nonproductive coughing but the side effects were not worth it. It's been a day later & my stomach is still burning. Read More Read Less

Took for congestion due to sinus infection.Had terrible results.Because of these side effects soon forgot about the original reason for taking Mucinex.Took two tabs. as suggested along with prescibed antibiotic for 3 day period(should have stop sooner just thought meds. needed time to work) .Extreme dizziness nearly to the point of dis-orientation.Face felt as if gravity was pulling strongly downward.I have never had such an adverse reaction to any medication.Thinking muttled, lethargic. No original symtoms improved. This medication contributed I believe significantly to this being very close to the sickest I've ever been.Wondered if I was going to die, had never felt this way. Discontinued use after app. 3 days, took additonal 3 days to get over side effects.I try to avoid decongestants because of the jittery feelings. Maybe Mucinex is a souped-up decongestant or something. In any case I'll never take it again, and would suggest that anyone be careful with it,particullarly if you react to decongestants. Alan Read More Read Less

I have only taken two doses and was happy to read other reviews that indicated nervousness, lightheaddedness, etc. I was too wired to sleep last night. Don't know if it will relieve my symptoms, but I hate the nervous, shaky, wired feeling.

While it worked to relieve my congestion, I broke out in an itchy rash all over my arms and chest. Alos, the taste/smell is horrible.

One of the best drugs I have ever taken for a cold. No muccus, helped with the sore throat and no side effects. I could sleep at night were with anything else I would have trouble.

I seem to be the 'rare' side-effect case of taking mucinex and then spending every night bent over the toilet feeling like I'm going to hurl. My cough has not subsided in the least. Took the maximum strength under a docter's advice and am totally regretting my current state in life. I'll never use this drug, again.

I've been coughing a lot- enough to take me to dry heaves because of nothing to cough up. With this med my coughing became productive and did it's job rather than made my throat sore- also made my head clear up... no more congestion!

Because I'm nursing, Mucinex is the ONLY med I can take safely. It worked as far as helping me breathe easier at night and clearing my sinuses, but I would much rather prefer a med that will knock the cold out completely like Dayquil or Sudafed.
