Finally started taking this a few years ago and it works great. After 30 years I can tell when it's coming so take this right away. I know it is expensive and I only get 12 per month. What I do is get the 40 mg and cut in half with a sharp pill splitter. Have been told that they won't work that way, BUT they do. Sometimes have to take another half but many times this works and I do it because ...

I'm apparently sensitive to medication, but Relpax did nothing for me. I took a dose in school about noon, and nothing happened. At one point, it reacted with my other medication and caused me to have an allergic reaction (I was taking Verapimil, Topimax, and Nortriptlyne). I still have a good amount of pills I haven't used yet.

I am 44 and have had migraines as long as I can remember. This is the FIRST drug that actually works for me, and believe me when I tell you I have tried everything. Except for the price...it is perfect. I've only taken two pills on one occasion.

This medication almost killed me the 1st and only time I took it! Within 20 minutes I began having chest pain and heaviness. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath. Pain began to radiate from my shoulders into my neck. I felt weak and extremely nauseous. My heart was racing and it felt like it was flopping around. That was 2 days ago and my heart rate is still erratic. When I woke up this morning I had a resting heart rate of 106 bpm. I am a 40 yr old,non smoking woman in excellent physical condition. The only health problem I have is migraines. Beware of this drug!Read More Read Less

I take a cocktail of this, an antinausea, a muscle relaxer and a norco. This combination works well. What is hard about this medication is that I am only allowed 9 pills per month, and sometimes need to take 2 pills for a migraine. That leave a lot of the month without a good medication (Chronic Migraines here).

After 8 years of being a migraine sufferer, I finally found a medication that works. I'm so grateful to my doctor for giving me Relpax samples. I've been looking for a pain reliever that will take away the pain, but also allow me to function at work. I have zero side effects with this one. And it gets rid of the pain within an hour and half. My insurance didn't want to cover it at first, they preferred I take a generic sumitriptan (which makes me totally ill). Thankfully, between my doctor and I arguing with them they approved it. Highly recommended for sufferers to at least try.Read More Read Less

Very effective in taking away migraine. Seldom do I have to take 2. Lots of side effects though but recently I found 1/2 a Norco completely alleviates those. Just found out my insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN will no longer cover Relpax! I tried Imitrex generic last year but it just makes me so sick and doesn't help the migraine. I'm so depressed over this. Thanks BCBS for nothing.

The medication works but the side effect of my jaw muscles tightening is frightening. If it tightens those muscles to the point of pain, you have to wonder what else it is doing.

It takes too long to work and doesn't relieve all the pain or any of the muscle aches that i get along with all the other symptoms.

The sooner you take this medication when you feel a headache coming one, the sooner and more effectively it works. I have thanked my doctor over and over for prescribing this medication to me for migraines. It is VERY fast and effective for me; yet does not make me drowsy. I do feel some tightness in my neck after taking it, however it is not painful.

Ditto on all said here. Here is what I want to add: When relpax is in your system, you may feel like water in sink or shower is too hot..even burning you because your blood vessels are wide open...I dont like to bend over, feels like too much blood to the head and can start migraine up again. Things can smell stronger to me also..also due to wide open blood vessels? Also acts as dieretic. Within an hour of taking it, I will have a very full bladder! I find its most effective to take it early as stated but IF you can take and lie down a bit in dark it reduces chance of secondary headache later. I feel a bit "spent" sometimes or "dull" but am generally able to continue the day as planned with some slight adjustments. Sometimes I can even excercise a bit or take a bike ride after a few hours IF I do not go at it super hard or contract neck and shoulder muscles too hard Try not to do any heavy lifting with relpax in system Have used approx 4 to 6 tabs each month for almost 20 years. My concerns now are what are LONG term effects on other parts of body?? Blood vessels? Eyes? Veins? Heart? It is great for taking migraine pain away but I feel like my hands and feet are always cold, and other parts too...Feel my eyes could be going downhill due to this also... Cant imagine life dealing with migraine pain without relpax, yet unsure how many years one can continue it...into menopause?? Leg and feet ache a lot these days too...concerned about veins and blood vessels losing elasticity after 2o years of being chemically forced open and stretched by relpax....I would really like to hear from people who have been taking it long term like I have or in quantities similar and see what side effects they are experiencing also..Read More Read Less

I took relpax for the first time yesterday and at first it worked wonders. About 30 after I left my doctors office I started to feel like I was getting lock-jaw. All my muscles in my jaw and neck tightened up and my shoulder and back began to hurt so bad. I had a horrible pain in the center of my chest and I couldn't even talk my jaw hurt so badly. This went on for a few hours I even vomited. My body temperature dropped and I was sweating like crazy. My boyfriend wanted to take me to the ER but I'm too stubborn. It eventually wore off later that night and I was so upset because it took away my migraine better then anything else but the side effects for me were seriously scary. Has anyone else experienced this?!Read More Read Less

This is my super drug when it comes to migraines. I have had migraines for many years and this is the only medication that I have used that works 99% of the time and within 30 minutes. The problem is that insurance won't cover but just a few a month.

Relpax has changed my life!!! I have experienced migraines since I was young, and this is the first medicine in my life that has helped alleviate my migraine pain. I would often be bedridden with extreme pain and vomiting. Now after I take Relpax, I will be able to function within a relatively short period of time. I have shared my experiences with others who have suffered from migraines, and they have then been prescribed Relpax with similar results! I was so thankful to find a medicine that finally worked! I do become tired as mentioned by other reviewers, but if you have been a migraine sufferer in the past, I believe that that is a small price to pay. I also believe part of the tiredness may come from the migraine itself. Read More Read Less

This is the first time I have ever felt the urge to review a medication, but for people with migraine who have tried so many meds to combat the headache, this is one of the most effective. Relpax has worked for me 99% of the time. I am an active 37 year old male who has suffered from migraine since my teens. I typically have less than 5 migraines a year. As I have gotten older, they have gotten less frequent. My migraines always start with an aura. This allows me to take the medication before the headache kicks in typically. Relpax doesn't do anything to relieve the aura, unfortunately, so i have to ride that part out. But it does wonders to stop the headache from coming on or it knocks it down to a manageable and hardly noticeable level. I am writing this because had I not had relpax 2 hours ago, I'd be laying in a dark room right now writhing in pain. Relpax is super expensive even with insurance. They do have a co-pay program on their website that is worth signing up for even if you have insurance. Relpax is a wonder drug as far as i am concerned. If they could figure out a way to solve the aura, I'd really be grateful but I'll settle for no headache. Read More Read Less

There's only 4 meds that I have on my "sent straight from heaven" list and Relpax is one of them. This medication did what meds are supposed to do..... Work 100% with minimal to no side effects. Relpax changed my life! I will be in so much pain I want to literally die and 1-2 pills later, tada~ good as new!! I hadn't had such an effective, side effect-less migraine drug in my life and just happens to be the thing that works for me! If you have migraines, I highly recommend trying it and first going online to get the "relpax discount card" because it cuts the bill $ down over 60% in my case. The only side effect I've noticed is I feel a little tired but I tend to get that anyhow because migraines are exhausting & you just want to sleep through it and wake up when it's over...so no complaints here. You gave me back my life and piece of mind (less fear of migraines because I know I have something near by that will help me if I do get one now). I'll never take another migraine medication.. I LOVE YOU RELPAX!<3Read More Read Less

Relpax is very effective! The down side is that it makes me quite naucious and just sickly for a good 2 sometimes 3 hours. However the migraine does dissipate. Also Relpax zaps my energy completely so if there is anything to get done it's going to have to be put off. If you get migraines as severe as I do this is so far the best medication I have found on the market. I will take 2-3 hours of feeling sickly over a horrific migraine.
