I have taken a viviran a long time,I take a day off now and then but if I have to get something done,it really motivates me and I find it is very hard for me as I have gotten my children grown and have nothing that really motivates me...this is sad :( but it is also very true!

This drug has caused me to to have severe headaches since I started taking the drug. The drug also causes disorientation. Although it did give me energy, the side effects are not worth it. NOT RECOMMENDED! I just threw away the rest of the box.

Used to drink coffee alot to motivate but started to get pain in my stomach. Tried vivarin in 1985 and used it to motivate...Worked great , had some jitters at 1st but soon got over them..I take 2 a day dose maybe x2 a day...Have taken for 38 years and I am 62 this year...and still works for me...no side effects or stomach discomfort..

I take 1/2 tablet in the morning around 7 am on an empty stomach. About 2 pm I take a whole tablet. This usually does the trick to provide me with the energy I need until bedtime ~1-2 am. It does not interfer with falling asleep for me.

Overall I really benefit with daytime activities and as a 3 rd shift nurse I am able to stay alert. I take a half of the tablet to prevent nervousness. Effective with no downside-

I started to use this because I barely get sleep and I have a baby. So far this has been great for me. I only take one pill a day. I’m up by 3a.m. and go to bed are 8-9 p.m. and up throughout the night. I’m sensitive to caffeine but this has really worked for me to get up and work out and go to work and to spend time with my baby

Took 4 of them. An hour later I was fast asleep. I thought I would try them since neither coffee or energy drinks work for me. I guess caffeine just isn't my thing.

Major headache with symptoms like a migraine. I almost had to go to the ER. I had to take meds to put me to sleep (OTC) and was still in pain when I woke up. My pharmacist said she wouldn't recommend it, but I couldn't stay awake during the day, after 2 energy drinks. I took as prescribed, no caffeine for the day other than the ONE pill per day, for two days in a row. Both times with the same effect. My stomach was upset as well. Never again.

The caffeine mg amount in Vivarin is amazing. A cup of coffee is 80-120mg, but this pill contains 200mg. So no more energy drinks and no more fattening Starbucks!! just 1 or 2 of these when I need to study and its great. The "mental alertness" it claims to provide, I cant speak of bc I didn't notice it. IF you're looking for caffeine, this is a great way. Some of my friends who are heavier need 3-4 to feel the effect. however with me ( 20y/o F/ 160lbs/ 5'10) one pill was just fine and 2 was extremely effective!!Read More Read Less

I just took 1/4 of a tab along with 4oz of coffee and it killed my excessive daytime sleepiness! I have an extremely sensitive stomach but 1/4 didn't make me sick.

The drug vivarin does provide you with alertness however, it caused me nausea, stomach ache, restlessness, anxiety, nervousness, and mood changes! I wouldn't reccommend if you have a weak stomach and bad nerves. Also it makes you some what jittery.

I've been using Vivarin for several years now, off and on. I picked it up in the Army, then used it when I was a student with a full time job. It saved me more times than I can count. It's helped me stay focused so many times when having to stay awake and/or pour over long-dry articles. But there is a real downside for me, which is why I am so on/off again with it. As great as I feel on it, coming off is really hard and it's getting more so as I age. Headaches, irritability, and a definite wrench in your normal sleep cycle are problems for me. So would I recommend it? Temporarily, yes. But as an every day substitute for coffee, it's too much. One last thing, do not take on an empty stomach! Read More Read Less

I started taking Vivarin in 1989. I took a break for a bout a year or so once when pregnant, but other than that it has been daily use. I try not to take more than 3x daily. I was in the Navy for 20 yrs working on the flight line so I had to stay alert, hyperfocused and head on a swivel ready to act fast on a daily basis. Now I have Gout, I do not drink soda or coffee. I am sad because I am only 45 and a woman. After talking to my dr. it seems caffiene use has played a role in the Gout. I would reccomend short term use but long term (as indicated on the package) not reccomended :(Read More Read Less

Started taking this a couple of weeks ago. It's great. Don't need coffee, or any sugar or creamer that goes with it. I used it because I was exhausted from workouts and lack of sleep. It's the right amount of pick me up after breakfast or the 2:30pm crash. It doesn't make me jittery or weird. But I may have a high tolerance. Keeps me focused on the task at hand. I don't have trouble sleeping but I've been having weird dreams lately. Probably not a good idea to take this everyday, which I've been doing. I'm going to alternate between green tea and this. Could easily fix my energy level by simply eating better and going to bed on time.Read More Read Less

Vivarin is AMAZING. I take it only when I need a boost or when I take a road trip. It makes me relax in the car but wide awake and alert! For the people who dislike this, it's only caffeine and that's all it is. No additives, no sugar, and no chemicals like energy drinks and NO CRASH! Love it completely........

So, this pill is a caffeine pill. Different people have different reactions to caffeine. Just ask your coworkers -- some swear by their coffee and can't live without it; others will tell you they never drink coffee because it makes them jittery or anxious. This is the same thing: either you like the effects of caffeine on your body or you don't. Personally, I take one pill every day after breakfast (sometimes on an empty stomach, caffeine can make you feel nauseous) and it gives me the energy I need to make it through the day. I love it!Read More Read Less

I take only half a pill each time because taking a full pill gives me a headache and half the pill is more than sufficient to help me not be sleepy. Without the pill, I'd probably could sleep half the day and still not be productive, so I love Vivarin since I can't afford to sleep half my day nor walking like a zombie. It's so much better than coffee and any other caffeinated substance.
