I have chronic insomnia, due in part to a traumatic brain injury. My weapon of choice in the sleep war is Remeron. It poops out rather quickly, however. When my Dr. recd the Halcion,. I was excited at the prospect of 7 or 8 hours of sleep. My jets were cooled around 6 Am, when I woke up after a paltry 6 hrs. Better than nothing, but about the same I I would expect on Xanax. I am not a fan. I f...

This drug works very well for me. I fall asleep fairly fast and usually sleep throughout most of the night.

I am a mess when I know I'll be in the dentist's chair for anything but minor drilling and filling. For the last two root canals, I was prescribed Halcion. After promising I wouldn't drive, I was told to take two an hour before the dental appointment. Once at the appointment, I was given one more. The last thing I remember was the dentist asking me if I was comfortable. After that, I woke up in my easy chair much later in the day.

Have been using this since 1985 and never had a problem. Prescribed .25mg but cut them into quarters and only occasionally need to use more than quarter per night. I noted early on that I needed to assist the drug by relaxing myself by reading light material or listening to music and I would drift into sleep within 30mins of taking it. If I kept myself wound up with anxious thoughts even a whole tablet had no effect. I also make sure I use it only when necessary so habit forming is reduced.

I took 3 halcion to get 2 teeth extracted. I am terrified of dentists. I took the pils 30-60 min before I saw the dentist. I was disappointed because I expected to be a zombie. I could read and understand all the paperwork. I would have had anxiety through the roof had I not taken them. I came through the tooth extraction fine. In the future I might try Valium. I wanted to be very out of it.

I've been on almost every sleeping ther is. My Doctor gave me a script of .25 Halcion. He said it would knock me out. Wrong, the first night took me forever to fall asleep. It now allows me some sleep, but I wake up every hour on the hour every single night. Haven't slept straight through the night in almost 4 years. I guess I just have to live with it.

For years I wouldn't go to the dentist. I had an abcess and had to go. The dentist gave me Halcion for anxiety. WOW! Best thing ever for dental anxiety. You are mostly aware for the procedure and don't remember it afterwards. & hours or so you will not remember most things until someone talks about it and then you will remember it. Excellent for dental procedures. I can't say enough good about it.

I was given Halcion (4-pills,along with 2 Valium-I don't know either mg's?) along wih my regular pain med's,before I had 3 teeth pulled.I asked several times if I was to take the drugs they gave me.along with my regular med's and I was told by the dentists wife/office manager to "yes-take all." Almost immediately I was completely incoherent, and I do no remember ANYTHING for at least 9-hrs, and I slept (or was out of it) for 12-hrs.!When my husband got me into our car to drive me to the dentist office-they had to come out with a wheel chair to take me in their office, and they let me leave their office in the same condition! When we got home-my husand had to sit with me,in the garage, for 4-hrs before he could wake me up enough to help me out of the car and into our house. I would NEVER recommend anyone take this drug-but especially anyone that also takes other pan med's!!!!! Read More Read Less

Suffered from sleep disruption for many years prior my doctor prescribing Triazolam (.25 mg). I would sleep 2-3 hours before waking up, and couldn't get back to sleep. What was amazing was that I could break the pill into quarters, and one-quarter of a pill would let me sleep an additional 3-4 hours. I have experienced no side effects after approx 7 years of using this medication.

I've been using this for about 15 years, on and off. This is the only sleeping aid I've used that does not give me wierd dreams or a hangover or the taste of bitters in my mouth. I only use it when my brain won't stop chattering, about 2-3 times a month. After 2 hours of trying to sleep, I take one or 1/2 one and get the sleep I need, but can wake up and go right back to sleep.
