I have chronic insomnia, due in part to a traumatic brain injury. My weapon of choice in the sleep war is Remeron. It poops out rather quickly, however. When my Dr. recd the Halcion,. I was excited at the prospect of 7 or 8 hours of sleep. My jets were cooled around 6 Am, when I woke up after a paltry 6 hrs. Better than nothing, but about the same I I would expect on Xanax. I am not a fan. I f...

have had difficulty sleeping through the night. i'm experiencing alot of stress due to work related issues[self employed] and family illness, wife has cancer. 0.25 dosage has allowed me to sleep restfully for 6-8 hrs. I have tried all the known sleep aids without success. tiazolam[halcion],should be used carefully under supervision of your doctor.there are nights that i don't use medication with no adverse effect. I have coffee every morning however, should i not have a cup,no withdrawal headache, so one might need to see what works best. again ,converse with your doctor.Read More Read Less

I have been using this 30+ years and it works great with no side effects. Just do not take too much. I only need .25mg most of the time and sometimes only .125mg per night. By the way this drug is not intended for daytime use for any reason, it is intended for sleep only.

I'm a 40 year old female that has had chronic insomnia since age 14. Tried many other meds before this. After less than a week I've had fantastic sleep each night, even being able to fall back asleep after waking for the bathroom, dog walking over me, etc. I've had minor drowsiness in the morning (after6-8 hrs sleep), but definitely not as much as I've had when I'm struggling to fall asleep all night. I will gladly continue to use this as needed without using it every night so my body doesn't get too used to it.Read More Read Less

I was given this drug before a root canal to take place at 8 a.m. My 78 yr old mother took me there. The dentist put me in her car basically unconscious and she had to manage to get me into her house. I was not awake good at 7 pm but drove home at 8pm because I had dogs to let out. I got violently ill, couldn't work the next day due to confusion and aggitation. Don't take this drug.

I am a 50 year old woman who was given this medication to take the night before and the day of Oral Surgery. I slept WONDERFULLY both the night before and the day of surgery. I wish I'd had this before rather than Sodium Seconal (twilight anesthesia)!

My mother took 2 of these one hour before a dental procedure to help her relax. She not only cannot remember me practically carrying her into the dr.'s office but 8 hours later still cannot function. She will not be taking the other pill prescribed for tonight.

I have tried everything, and this seems to be the best at helping me sleep. Slept through the night, and was fine the next morning. I have used it off and on for 4 months with no side effects.
