Dr had me on multiple meds from Ace Inhibirors to Calcium Channel etc. Nothing worked. Finally, put on Maxide and BP returned to normal within 3 weeks. Has been controlled with no perceptible side-effects for 8 years. I recommend this drug over any other. Also controls swelling. PS: It is generic, so some Dr's try to get you to take specific other ones, if you know what I mean.

I'm taking Maxzide to combat swelling from taking Lyrica; my only reaction so far is that 12 hours after taking it, I have palpitations and nausea that leads to vomiting if I don't sleep right away, so had to adjust from taking first thing in the morning to taking with lunch. Seems to be working well other than that.

Make sure you do watch out for cramps in legs and feet. I had to stop after only 1 dose due to this problem.

I can't really address "effectiveness" because I've taken the drug for 3 days and started having INTENSE cramps in my legs, feet, and around my ribs after about 24 hours. After a really ugly night, I stopped taking it this morning (Sat.) & will contact my Dr. Monday morning. The pharmacy information sheet said the cramps were a possible side effect & to contact your Dr., so that's where I am. Also, I did not see an increase in urine output during the 3 days I was on the med. But maybe it wasn't long enough to see results yet. I just know the cramps were HORRIBLE, and actually scared me because they were so intense and ongoing. Read More Read Less

I have Meniere's Disease, a condition where fluid builds up in my inner ear causing dizziness and vertigo. This greatly helped reduce the fluid, giving me more dizzy-free days. I do have to get my potassium levels tested once or twice a year as this cause the levels to drop.

Be careful! This drug gave me drug-induced lupus after several months use. If you have similar symptoms (extreme fatigue & intense flu-like body aches), see your doctor immediately. When I stopped this drug, the tests confirmed that I no longer had lupus.
