For me it had great results, but made my quality of life miserable. The first problems it gave me was muscle soreness and joint pain. I felt it all over but most affected was my back, especially lower back, knees and hips. Physically, It made me slow and weaker. There was also multiple daily gastric issues. I always had to be near a toilet or know where the closest one was. The last thing I know it did to me was screw up my sleeping. I would be unable to keep my eyes open in the early evening and was falling asleep three hours before normal bedtime. I would then wake up when I usually go to bed and be unable to fall back asleep for five or six hours. This was every night occurence.Read More Read Less

This med has worked wonders for my cholesterol numbers however it was the root of all my terrible sleep issues. I stopped taking it for one night to see if it was the culprit and boom I slept like a baby! Suffered for months with poor sleep and now my sleep is wonderful every night! I had been on Zocor in the past and had the same side effect. I’m irritated my doctor put me on another statin after she knew that statins cause me sleep problems. I know it’s a rare side effect, but nonetheless, it’s real for some people. Will now try a non-statin drug. Read More Read Less

I’m a 70 yr old male with coronary artery disease; (three heart stents over 12 years). I’ve been on Rosuvastatin for over 12 years with no issues at all. Earlier this year, my cardiologist said that my LDL level of about 110 was above the new recommended level (below 60). She increased my daily dose from 20mg to 40mg. After about 6 months at the new dose I found myself consistently angry and forgetful. After a little searching I found articles linking statin overdose to a reversible cognitive decline. I brought my concerns to my cardiologist and she reduced my dose from 40mg to 30mg (three 10’s). I also augmented with 200 mg of CoQ10. My negative symptoms instantly ceased. In March this year after about 3 months at 30mg, I suddenly got severe dry mouth. I went to a family practice Dr who put me on a course of nystatin and recommended Biotene mouthwash, which helped a little. I really suffered for six more months with dry mouth until one day the thought hit me that my Rosuvastatin could be the cause. And sure enough, Dr Google was filled with comments linking Rosuvastatin to dry-mouth. About four weeks ago I went to my cardiologist saying that I thought there was an association between the two; she reduced my dose back to the original 20mg Very gradually over 4 weeks the drymouth has gone about 90% away I know that I need the statin for my heart. But I also need my brain. And dry-mouth is painful enough to take some joy out of life. It’s a trade off. Read More Read Less

I have been taken statins for over 20 years for high cholesterol after a heart attack. I had covid and doctor took me of them and when I got over the covid I started taking it again and then I had dizziness and brain fog then the doctor put me on a lower dose and I started have missed heartbeats the first night and I stopped taking it the next night and next morning my heart was beating normal again for the last few weeks. I am scared to take statins now or could it be because of covid side effects. Has any one else that is taking statins had this problem with skip heartbeats or after having covid and taking statins?Read More Read Less

I started this medicine in Jan 2023, the last 3 or so months my joints and muscles get so sore and stiff. I am only 58 but yet I feel 90 due to the pain. I am seeing my Dr this week as I can't continue with the debilitating issues.

This drug did lower my cholesterol significantly; however, that has come at a cost. I finally have put two and two together to realize that this drug is likely the cause of severe weakness in my thighs and lower back/butt. I have been getting weaker and weaker over the past year or so and just could not figure out why. The weakness caused me to not be able to even do regular housework without paying for it in pain. The pain and weakness has caused me to not want to do much of anything active which has had a horribly negative impact to my life, mental and overall health. I stopped this drug by accident because the script took a long time to be filled. A few days after stopping my medication I happened to hurt my back after doing just 10 squats. It has now been about two weeks since I stopped the med and my muscle weakness in my legs is gone. My back is still sore but all of the weakness is 100% improved. I wake up feeling so much better and it doesn't hurt to walk a short distance. Over the last year I was constantly feeling so uncomfortable in my thighs, back and butt area and it made me miserable. I believe it is this drug that has taken the last year or so of my life. If you are feeling these symptoms don't dismiss them like I did. I have a habit of thinking "eh the pain will go away, just deal with it," but weakness in your legs and back is not normal and continuing this drug is only going to make the pain continue and get worse. Side effects have been debilitating. Can not function outside the home. Stopped taking it and am very slowly feeling better. It was a VERY bad choice for me. Quality of life is so important. I lost that with this medication.

Rosuvastatin 20 mg was proven to be effective by an Coronary Angiogram procedure done about two years ago. Results: coronary arteries normal. WOW ! My initial lipid profile For Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides as well as the Low Density Cholesterol numbers were off the chart. My HDL'S were below 20. I was on my way to coronary artery disease. The Rosuvastatin 20mg with a triglyceride medication changed my lipid profile to healthy values for a much lower risk to have the coronary disease. Sure enough, the angiogram validated my regimen on Rosuvastatin. Read More Read Less

First night took this medicine by 2 tablets before sleep, then midnight around 1.30am fever and diarrhea, watery. I quickly Google search this medicine and found this forum, got side effects. Very frustrated as this medicine was recommended by Pharmacist. Lesson learnt, check the medicine before buy. I won't take this medicine again

I have been statin intolerant in the past. I started taking this medication 5mg every Friday for 4 weeks. Weeks 1 & 2, no side effects. On Week 3, the day after taking it, I had horrible muscle spasms in both upper legs followed by sever cramping. Was barely able to walk the following week. After the 4th dose, my lower calve muscles became severely sore along with my knee joints and ligaments around my knees. My upper leg muscles became even more sore. My feet also swelled up and I had dark purple bruises appear on both feet and on my upper leg muscles. A week after my last dose, I began to finally feel better and was able to walk, bend over, stand and sit with minimal pain. I have had similar adverse reactions to statins in the past, but this was far worse than previous attempts to take statins. Needless to say, I will not EVER be taking this or any other statin again. The side effects are just not worth it. Read More Read Less

I was taking 10 mg and seemed to tolerate it. I had nausea occasionally but I did not identify it with the rosuvastatin. My doctor suggested that I take 20 mg to reduce the LDLs further. Within a month I had gastric pains and constant nausea, consistent with my symptoms when I took a thyroid med that had lactose. My doctor prescribed fluvastatin, which has no pactose, and I’m fine now.

The cardiologist (Referral)knowing i am diabetic put me on Rosuvastatin 1st 5 mils then to 20. The last two months I am having pain. The doctor didn't tell me any side effects. It did drop my levels. Although my cholesterol is borderline high and I have low triglycerides before the statin. This drug can cause peripheral neuropathy. Make sure to ask questions don't just take things. I feel the doctor could have used a milder statin. I went from active to extremely achey and not so active and its been only five months. Do your research Read More Read Less
