I was really nervous to try this after seeing all the awful side effects people have had, but I've just begun my fifth month and haven't noticed anything at all. No weight gain, mood swings, nothing. I would recommend that people give it a go because if you think about it, the only people who are really going to be motivated to review are most likely those who hated it, so the online rating is alm...

Well, the best I can say is that this drug has done what it's supposed to do. I haven't gotten pregnant since I started using it, but that's all I can say for the positives. To name a few of the issues this drug has given me: headaches/migraines with increased frequency, severe abdominal pains, nausea, mood swings, extremely strange periods, chest pains, tender breasts, and very frequent shortness...

I just switched from Ortho lo and I have had breakthrough bleeding nonstop. I have also had some crazy mood swings. I know that these things may be caused by my body getting used to the drug, but it has been no fun so far.

I love this pill! My old period lasted at least 7 days, usually much longer. I tried taking Yaz, but I would get two periods a month or my period would start half way through the month and last until the end (and I'm talking a FULL period). Junel Fe 1.5/30 has been great. I had a full period last month, non this month but typically I have a very light period of 2-3 days. No weight gain as far as a can tell (my weight fluctuates between 127-130 and that's been the same), and I have gone up a cup size. Some moodiness and acne problems towards the end of the non placebo pills, but better than I used to be without. I only take some of the iron pills, but they help lessen how easily I bruise while on my period.Read More Read Less

I have been experiencing a lot of break through bleeding. I am guessing this is one of the higher side effects from reading the reviews. It becomes quite annoying not know when I am going to get my period, or how long it will be there for. Does anyone have any suggestions on a pill that will reduce slight mood swings, and the annoying break through bleeding?

I started this pill because I heard you could have a shorter, lighter period & my period is usually very heavy & long & painful. I started it the Monday after my last period, was okay for about 2 weeks, & now have been "breakthrough bleeding" for 2 weeks, this last week being my actual period. The supposed "breakthrough bleeding" was very heavy. I have gained weight from it as well. I was thinking about just continuing it & seeing if it evened out but since I read about the user who's had a 2-month period on this, no way. I'm going to try something else.Read More Read Less

so far so good im in on my second month. prob too early to tell and def too early to give too negative a review. just had a period and it was very light. hoping that my sex drive is not affected liek it was with ocella. no one here has reported low sex drive so thats good. my doctor gave me a sample of loestrin and the insurance covered generics, so i am on my first week of taking junel. I AM CURIOUS: why is the effectiveness rate of this medication at 3 stars? i know only 14 people have reviewed but why the low effectiveness rating? Read More Read Less

I am so happy I am not the only one out there with this experience! I was so worried when the breakthrough bleeding was worse this month. The only pill that ever worked well for me was discontinued, so my doctor put me on this pill and I have not been happy with it.

I started taking Junel over a year ago because of my heavy and painful periods. My periods became light and not painful. Now over a year later I was just in the hospital for pancreatitus and gallbladder disease. Now I have to find another birth control that won't cause pancreatitus.

I've been on LoEstrin Fe for years with no side effects. I've taken it continuously so I haven't had a period or PMS symptoms in 2yrs. I was switched to Junel Fe 1.5-30 (Generic for LoEstrin Fe) and have had severe PMS symptoms the past 2 months. Bloating, cramping, break through bleeding, breast tenderness. Just called my doctor today and switching back to Branded LoEstrin FE!

I have been on Junel 1.5/30 for a month and a half. I am on my 3rd period within that time span. I was on Junel Fe (the lower dose hormone) and was having a period normally, then the second week of my pill pack. Now, same with this one. I will try it for a while longer but not really the treatment that would seem reasonable for an endometriosis patient.

I have been on this medication now for about 6 months. I get it through mail order, so my mail order was sending me Microgestin fe, insted of the actual JUNEL fe. I hated the Microgestin and had them send me the Junel fe, which is what my prescription was wrtten for. Love the junel. Periods are very light, no cramps. So far, this birthcontrol is great.

I switched to Junel to pay a smaller co-pay, but I am switching back to my old pill Kariva after this month. I've had severe bloating and water retention. I've also experienced almost a weeks worth of cramping the week before I was to start my period. My acne is worse and I just haven't felt very good since starting this new medication. I tried to start a diet while taking this drug too and I didn't lose a pound and felt like I gained instead. Use with caution.

I have been taking Junel FE 1.5/30(28) for 4 months and have had break-through bleeding non-stop. I have also experienced weight gain and serious bloating: to the point that I have been constantly uncomfortable. My PMS is worse than it ever has been and I have notified my Doctor. I have never felt this bad before taking birth control and I have taken several different kinds over the last 20 years. This is the worst by far that I have experienced.

So i have been taking it for about a year now. In the beginning i didnt have any problems whatsoever, but things progressively got worse and worse. The bleeding in between is constant, im always worried im pregnant! It's really starting to get annoying if you know what i mean.

I've only been taking this for a little over 4 weeks and been having bleeding for over 3 weeks now. Started as light spotting and gradually worked up to a normal period. Dr. said ok unless I start bleeding real heavy. Not too great when you are trying to lessen your periods.

i have only been taking this for 2 months. so far, slight weight gain compared to my last brand. My period has been barely there, shorter duration & amount. It does however give me an upset stomach when i take it if i don't take it with food. I havent really noticed an improvement in skin though.

I have taken it for about 8 months and it has worked well. Everyone is different, but I seem to have hardly any period anymore. It is light to the point where I have it a couple days, and barely bleed. That can cause uneasiness at times, since a missed or "barely there" period can signal pregnancy. So far, that is not the case.
