I have been taking this drug for about 5 weeks now, and have already noticed a decline in how many cigarettes I smoke per day. You won't "quit overnight" but this drug sure does make the process a lot easier. None of the OTC stuff worked for me, and I have NO willpower. This is the only thing I've found that works in my situation. Good luck if you're quitting! :)

Five years ago, I was diagnosed with Dysthymia. My doctor just switched me to Budeprion SR 150mg after taking Lexapro for 5yrs. I had gain 30lbs while on Lexapro and could not lose the weight, but I always felt at ease and more level headed. After 7 days of taking Budeprion, I have had several crying episodes, rage, have been argumentative and have loss of appetite. I have heard that people have lost some weight while on this drug. Is this true for anyone out there that's on Budeprion SR??? I'd love to lose some weight, but not if I'm going to be miserable the rest of my life. In my opinion Lexapro by far is a much better drug than Budeprion, but the weight gain over time is literally a heavy price to pay! :) It has been too early to tell if there will be any positive effects from this drug, however I do not like how this drug makes me feel and I'm considering going back to Lexapro. Happy & Fat or Skinny & Miserable?? Decisions.....Read More Read Less

Started out well then four months later the effect seem to where off. I noticed changes in my skin such dry round spot in clusters and some red breakouts appeared that were not there bfr medication sept.,08' I started at 150mlg, maybe I need a higher dosage. I've also taken lexapro for a little over a year, that may have given me my rashlike symptoms on my skin and weight gain too.

I only took this for 4 days. I could only sleep about 4 hours and then would be up for the rest of the night. I was exhausted and felt worse because of the lack of sleep it gave me. Not worth the effort to wait and see what happens, I want to feel better now. I felt worse.

Have been taking one Budeprion 150 mg SR a.m.for about 2 mo. Has helped me avoid panic attacks somewhat; Doc says take one in p.m. but I awake after 3-4 hrs of sleep & stay awake; also fuzzy thinking. Scary for driving & work. I have "passed" all kinds of tests for GERD,stomach scope, heart echo/stress, EKG, etc. but still have unexplained burning sensations in chest; sometimes radiating to arm; mostly on left side. Began about two weeks after starting Budeprion. Does anyone else experience this; wondering if its the meds or more anxiety/menopause symptoms. Respond if you have this burning &/or answers! Praying for relief.Read More Read Less

Generic WARNING. I am so glad to have read the reviews below--they prompted me to add my comments. This about the generic for Wellbutrin, Budeprion SR 150 mg x2. Irritability, jitters, at first, with 2nd dose at noon--severe agitation,super-witch, anger replaying itself. At first, it seemed to work w/Lexapro. Then after weening from Lexapro I felt my brain racing and fatigue from the event. Thought it was the Lexapro withdrawal. Paid attention to my reactions after a.m. dose only and then with noon dose. There appears to be a cumulative negative effect, producing more irrational impatience. I'm scared; will discuss w/psych after having read generic reviews and Wellbutrin reviews. I do not normally have bad reactions to any kinds of medication. NB: the generic medication seemed to work w/ Lexapro for a year. I've been on the genric Budeprion SR for two months without the Lexapro. I'll ask to switch to the Wellbutrin and write back. I've been retired about a year--I should be relaxed. Read More Read Less

I was switched to this drug after being on Wellbutrin 150 XL for over 10 years. After a month on it I got depressed and back to where I was before I had started Wellbutrin. I am now on generic buproprion and I can see an improvement after 3 weeks. However, it is not the same as to when I was on Wellbutrin. I am getting the brand product with my new prescription. The savings are not worth the suffering. It should be denounced to the FDA.

I have taken other anti-depressants in the past, as well as Chantix. This is the only thing that I found had NO side effects for me. The first few nights I had trouble sleeping, but once I learned you should take it in the afternoon, not night, it was fine. I am also using the nicotene patch, so I can't say how effective this is alone. Chantix did work for not smoking, but the side effects were unbelievable.

I have had a great experience on this medication. No side effects what so ever. After reading other reviews of the medication, I thought that it was neccessary to say something positive. I was previously on Lexapro, and hated the way it slowed me down and the weight gain. I would definatly recomend this drug!

It has kept me at an even keel, ups aren't too up, downs aren't too down. Also helped me quit smoking originally, when i wanted to. When i stopped wanting to, it has not had any effect on it. I have experienced a side effect not listed however. I don't know that it's related either, but i have suffered from acne on my jaw line and my chin under my goatee, and it has been persistant since I started the drug. I never had acne in the 30 years prior. Anyone else suffer from this?

I just switched to brand wellbutrin from this nasty generic. What a difference!!! If you are experiencing bad side effects I urge you to switch. After reading all of the negative info about this generic I decided to try it and I am so glad I did. It is well worth the extra cost!!!

I've been taking anti-depressants for two months now. The pharmacy gave me this generic instead of budproban. This generic did not serve any justice. I had severe dry-mouth (always thirsty), body aches, and my moods was like a rollacoster (up and down). Also, i had aggression like was a young teenager. I did not like this feeling. I went to the doc and asked for a script of Budproban. Budproban works for me.

I have been on Budeprion SR a couple of days. I came to this site to read comment on the treatment of others, I have not read comments other than depression treatment and smokers that have stopped smoking. I was given this prescription by my Dr. - I was diagnosed hyperthyroidism and was treated with radioactive iodine, since then I have not been the same person. I am always tired, I eat less but gain so much weight and my sex life has change. I am now hypo- and have gain 30 - 35 lbs in one year. I have tried everything to lose weight from weight watcher clinics and go to the gym every day (Sun. thru Sat.) for 2 hours and have not seen results. :( The weight gaining is my main concern. I hope budeprion sr will help me boost my energy and burn more calories. I will let everyone know if it work for me. Positive thinking. Read More Read Less

I have been on budeprion sr 150mg 8 days. took 1 3x daily then 2. I just noticed the jittery feelings today. The first 3 days I noticed I'm so active/talkative/happier. I am also on Clonozapam for anxiety. So,the rapid heart beat/dry mouth/jitters makes me a little hesitant about this. But, after reading all these comments. I guess I will deal with it for a little while longer to see. Plus I was taking one in the morning and one at night.. Seen how most took one in the morning and then the other in the afternoon. I will see if this helps. Read More Read Less

I had the feeling of overwhelmed all the time when any thing more was added to my plate. I was prescribed 150mg for the first two weeks, this made me nervous and i had to take a sleeping med. my mood was better from day one. Than my i was upped to 300mg for the next two months and this was the dose i need most of the time, after talking to the doc, he advised me to take two pills in the morning so i would be able to fall a sleep easier, and when i feel a slip in to a lack of energy and or mood change to add one more pill in the evening (5-6:00pm) till i felt normal, this has worked for me over the past year.Read More Read Less
