After having taken Maxalt 10mg for over 8 years, my insurance company decided that I should start taking a generic. The patient info sheet listed a lot of ingredients that I do not eat or am not normally exposed to. I had no choice but try the generic. I had a difficult time opening the wrapper with a migraine. Once open the pill did not immediately dissolve. I had to take a teaspoon of water in m...

I used Relpax until my insurance would not cover it anymore. My doc switch to Rizatriptan. It does not work for me. Wish I could get my Relpax back.

I've been a Maxalt user for 9 years until the generic Riz came out, which of course my insurance had me switch too. Riz takes longer to kick in -- about 45 mins. and does take the pain away, however rebound headaches are more prevalent with Riz. I take twice as many pills because of the rebounds lasting longer. In the past I could take 2 Maxalts/day whereas now I'm taking 3-4 Riz. Not loving that. Seems like Riz is a watered down version of Maxalt?

My insurance only allows me to get 9 pills per month, so sometimes I end up in the emergency room because I don not have any more pills, which I found ridiculously.

I have been taking Maxalt MLT but insurance will not pay for it any more. This drug seems to work just as well. It takes longer to melt, but seems to work ok. I have only used it 3 or 4 times. So far, so good.

I started this medication as Maxalt over 15 years ago. I used the MLT (melts on the tongue) version until my insurance stopped covering MLT. The tablets take longer to kick in, but are just as effective. I've recently switched to generic which seem to make me drowsy, unlike the formulary.

Since I have a dry mouth because of other medications, I start the tablet on my tongue, then drink some water. I may need to re-read directions as to timing of taking the med; sometimes I wait too long to take it. I do not wish to take any medication too quickly as I already have a pharmacopia of medications that I take.

I have been taking Zomig for many years but my insurance has stopped paying for it. My physician recommended Rizatriptan and so far I've been pleased with the results. I've not had any side effects and I can work all day after taking it.

I've only taken it once, but it made me very drowsy, to the point of falling asleep for about an hour and then being a zombie for the rest of the evening. It did get rid of my migraine, but not sure if the trade off is worth it. I still feel a little out of it the morning after. I'll give it a few more tries and see.

It took about 45 minutes to kick in, but within the time I noticed it working, it was only about 5 minutes before my migraine was completely gone, what a relief. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

This drug works exceptionally well. The only problem is I have to take it again in 3-4 hours. But I works for me within 15-20 minutes. It does not make me sleepy.

I tend to be sensitive to meds so, I like this pill because I can cut it in half. It usually helps me within an hour without any side effects like some others.

Knocks me OUT. I had to leave work both times I took it and barely made it to my bed. Thank goodness it was only a short walk, I could not have driven. I am normally resilient to drowsiness from meds (Nyquill, Benedryl, etc.) so this was an unusual reaction for me.
