I was taking this drug for severe leg crapms for about 4 years, then the FDA decided they could make more money by with holding the drug for "special" uses. Since it has been back on the market and available, my leg crapms have gone away, Insurance wont cover it now, so I have to go out of US borders to obtain. IT WORKS.

I use this drug for leg cramps nightly with no side effects and no adverse reactions with my blood pressure meds. I love it! I have to get it from an independent pharmacy that compounds it at the pharmacy because it was taken off the main stream market, but my doctor has no problem prescribing it. My leg and feet cramps were so bad, you could visibly see them contorting. I tried potassium and more, but nothing works as well as the quinine. I will probably continue taking it forever if it's available. I have not had a cramp since I started treatment with quinine. Read More Read Less

I was prescibed quinine sulfate some 10 years ago. since it was taken off the US market, I have tried Requip and Mirapex to no avail. I now get quinine sulfate from Canada, but my doctor is reluctant to write a new prescription since quinie sulfate may contribute to heart attacks.

support group recommended Tonic Water after my exposure to MSG and auto deodorizer. Man even stopped me on the street 'i can tell by the way you are walking that you have had exposure-toxic' and again recommended tonic/quinine water. Made me feel so good i quickly downed 2 liters. what is suggested dosage? My immune system is in very bad shape due to bad blood transfusion

I use quinine for leg cramps at night. When I get a severe leg cramp, I get up and take one tablet with a glass of water and the cramp goes away in a few minutes. I have no adverse side effects. I know 3 other persons who take it for the same problem.

this was prescribed for night leg cramps by my physician now I see that it is not to be used for that purpose. It helped. I only took one capsule two nights in a row.

I use this (Quinine Sulfate) oral, for leg cramps. I use it only very rarely and I can attest that taking it when a leg cramp is oncoming and worsening, 20 seconds after I take a capsule, leg cramps and symptoms disappear. I am 72 years old. The frequency that I have to take it is less than once every 2 or 3 months.

My father-in-law who was in WWII claims he got a condition the doctors refer to as sandfly fever. And, he at 82, uses quinine every time he has a leg cramp. I tell him drink plain water & not just tonic water as he is suffering from dehydration.

more than 40 years ago my mother took quinine for several years for treatment of severe leg cramps as needed. it worked extremely well for her. as i got older i began to periodically get leg cramps -- the pain was excruciating and so crippling. during one of my regular checkups i told my doctor and he gave me an rx for quinine as needed. it was a miracle that i used myself for many years until i ordered a refill and my supplier informed me that it was no longer available, so i understand abot hording the remaining few i have.Read More Read Less

This is the only thing that will get rid of severe cramps (legs, fingers, chest, toes) when I have them. I don't take quinine unless all else fails. It will almost immediately stop my cramps. I probably don't take five pills a month. I take four different cholesterol drugs which I have to take (heart disease with controlled high cholesterol). Since the FDA took them off the market, I really hoard what I have left. I hate to think about the day when they are all gone. Unless you have experienced these horrific cramps, you can't imagine the pain associated with them. It's AWFUL!!!!!Read More Read Less

I was having alot of leg cramps which are very painful and last up to 5-6 minutes. My doctor prescribed Quinine. I still got cramps but they were less painfull by 50% and did not last as long. I started getting systoms like achy muscles in my arms and hands and for no reason my face swelled up in the middle of the night and I had to go to the emergency room. I was taking Quinine off and on whenever I thought I needed it. Then I got hospitalized and was diagnose with ITP Thrombocytopenia. My platelet count was down to 1000. This occured twice and with every occurence I had taken Quinine the night before. My doctors did not believe that it was from the Quinine. I do!! I stop taking it and I have not had a systom in the last 4 years. Read More Read Less

I know what the experts say, but it has relieved my leg and other cramps which I was experiencing with Zocor. Just have to watch to ensure no other side effects with this drug.
