I am reviewing this drug to share the minor side effects of taking the oral (pill) vaccine. Of the four times I took it, I had diarrhea on two occasions. No other side effects. I don't know the effectiveness of the drug as I just took it but it's better than traveling overseas without it.

Get the shot. My nurse never mentioned that there were any symptoms or downsides to taking the pills but Iâ??ve experienced severe stomach pain and Iâ??m on pill 3. Literally been in the fetal positions all day and I took the pill last night.

I am taking this medication to prevent typhoid in Africa while on a mission trip. From Day 1, 1st pill, stomach pain has increased. I am doubling over in pain. 2nd pill was even worse. I took 3rd pill and nausea increased. I have 1 pill to go and could not be any happier. Hahaha. I did not expect this medication to have such drastic side effects but it sure beats getting Typhoid, right? Thankful we even have an option to prevent it. Ready for Ghana!

Wish I had gotten the shot- and I HATE shots. I’m on my third pill today. I took it at 8am and around 11am I started having stomach pain. Now it is 2pm and I’m still having stomach cramping and vomiting. I had to take the day off work. Dreading taking the last pill.

The stomach cramps I got from the first dose of this drug were so bad that I am going to stop and get the shot instead. My experience has been like many who've posted here—very painful stomach cramps that come and go like contractions. Worse when I eat, but not eating for a week is not really an option...

This Oral vaccine has taken the life out of me. I would not recommend unless you are able to take time off work. Severe stomach pains & fever on the days I took it, the days in between were better but not great. Only benefit is that it lasts longer.

Took second pill yesterday and having extreme stomach pains that come like contractions every so often. Not taking the other two pills as I leave the day after the last pill and don’t wanna be in fetal position on vacation. Won’t be doing oral pills again.

Around 4-5 hours after taking each pill I would get a stomach ache. On the fourth pill, I had such a bad stomach ache I couldn't even sit up properly. The stomach ache lasted almost the entire day.

The abdominal pain and cramping is horrific. I can barely think straight. This is the worst vaccine side effect I've ever experienced. Get the shot. This drug is AWFUL. I am furious at this product AND the nurse for not telling me that I would need time of from work to stay home and suffer.

First 3 pills were alright..but had the fourth one and about 3 hours after experienced significant stomach pain for the rest of the day. If that was the case after each one I would've stopped or taken the time off work just to take the pills. Although the needle only lasts 3 years compared to 7 for the pills. May be worth taking a needle as I don't remember any symptoms last time.

8-10 hours after each pill I feel AWFUL! I was hoping my body would adjust, but I took the last pill today and I am rocking back and forth with a barf bag beside me once again. Last time I traveled to India I had the shot-much better. I will never do the pills again! I'd rather take my chances with typhoid since it is curable. This is only 50-80% effective. Not worth it!

Took the second pill five hours ago, and just as after the first one, I'm having debilitating stomach cramps and nausea. Not looking forward to two more days in the fetal position.

My son had headache and cramping with the first dose. He had these and explosive diarrhea with the second dose. He has missed a day and a half of school. Third dose is tomorrow morning. We are not looking forward to it.

Within two hours of the first dose I was nauseated and cramping. A few hours after that, I started having explosive liquid diarrhea. Malaise, fever, and continued cramping have made it impossible for me to work this week. I hope that it's all worth it...

Myalgias and slight fatigue after third dose. Significant stomach ache for 12 hours so far, and fatigue after the fourth dose. I hope this means it is working. I don't think I'd take the oral vaccine again. I wonder about the accuracy of the reported incidence of side effects by the manufacturer.

Taking this in anticipation of my trip to Africa. Taking it on an empty stomach is a little difficult, but not terrible. And so grateful for the other reviews - couldn't figure out why I was so exhausted! Good to know it's just the vaccine. A little queasy, too, but nothing outrageous.

Agree with other reviews but did not put it together until after the last dose. I had diahhrea after each dose, lack of appetite and increased need for sleep. Severe stomach cramps with the last dose.

I am in my second (read third) day of treatment, and am experiencing slight nausea headache and a low grade fever--very unpleasant but not debilitating.
