I am taking this drug for MAC. It sometimes gives me an upset stomah, but I have found if I take this drug and the Myambutol with a meal it doesn't really have much of an effect. I know the drugs are working as my dry cough is almost non-existent even though I will be taking both drugs for another 2 years.

I have undiagnosed for two years with horrible symptoms which represent both Lyme Disease & lupu symptoms which the doctor and thing might be by product of lyme disease. For the first time in 8 months I have no jaw & chest pain, and swelling in my joints is better. My neurolofical symptoms are still there but not as bad. Adding Plaquenil is also helping

Drug worked well for me, but I experienced hiccups that would not subside until I ceased taking medication.

So your not going crazy and your not alone. Worst drug of all time. I have 24/7 nausea and the worst stomach pains of my life. I feel dazed but restless. I have also experienced Insomnia waking up every hour and have a limited appetite. I'm attempting to stick it out because its made me feel better within 24 hours. I have found that taking probiotics in-between each dosage has helped to ease the nausea tremendously.

My Dr prescribed this after I suffered a cat bite that caused my hand to swell up. The swelling was down to manageable 12 hrs after first dose and gone by next day. I suffered none of he side affects mentioned in here or in the drug description.

I'm only two doses into a 10 day course, and will be calling in for something else tomorrow. I assume it's working as my cough is better, but the taste and stomach issues have left me feeling worse than the bronchitis did. I'd only take again if the Grim Reaper handed it to me as a surefire way to make him leave.

I was given this drug for 14 days for h-pylori and I can tell you this, my intestines have never been the same since,that was 37 years ago...It really messed up my intestines bad. I now have IBS and many other problems from this drug.. Please if a doctor hands you a scrip for this, toss it out asap.......

I'm writing this at 3:00 AM because of insomnia, which among other side effects started after taking dose 3. I as well have the terrible taste in my mouth, most severe during the night. Tastes bitter, like bile. I normally eat about 3 small meals and 3 snacks throughout the day, so the eating may be helping with the taste during the day. Also have experienced some very mild intestinal cramps and loose stool, but since I have chronic IBS with constipation, this is actually a not so unpleasant side effect for me. But the bacterial infection seems to be getting better so I will try to stick it out. My 7 year old son is taking this medication. I haven't seen much improvement with sinuses. Since he started taking it he has been very emotional. Very clingy, to the point of crying if I am out of his sight. This has been a terrible experience. I hope no one else has to go thru this.

This drug had immediate effectiveness on my strep throat. The pain with this infection was severe. Although the horrible taste it causes in my mouth is tollerable, I have not had any other side effects. I take a zantac each morning before I eat and do not take the biaxin until after I eat. So far no diarrhea.

After trying other antibotics to clear up my Broncitis, which did not work, my lung doctor said he wanted to try Biaxin XL 500MG ER Tab. I was given a 7 day supply to take 2 per day ( Breakfast & Dinner.) Today is my 5th day of taking this drug and so far no side effects that have been noticeable except maybe taking longer to get to sleep. I have not had a bad taste like most people have stated they have. I am sure hoping this drug works for me as I am tired of being sick.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a medicine. I immediately started to feel better, but the side effects are much worse than what I went to the doctor for in the first place! I have had a horrible taste (which is dealable) but the stomach cramps have been the worst I have ever experienced. It's been almost 24 hours since I last took a pill, and for the last 10 hours I've been doubled over in pain.

Beware, read the other reviews, too. I have never been sicker in my life than after I took this. Severe dizziness, vomiting, nausea, feeling extremely hot, shaking, insomnia, slight delirium, body temp of 95 degrees for a day. Read the reviews, DONT TAKE IT! It will let you get a few pills in you before you notice anything, then it will knock you on your rear for about 12-36 hours. I'll take cyanide before I take this stuff again.

I have had just an awful experience with this medicine! It seemed to reduce the chronic cough I had a little, but the side effects weren't worth it. I had fatigue, irritability, stomach pain, diarrhea, and crazy dreams--I even dreamed I drowned my mother!!! I thought I was going crazy or becoming very ill. I was very glad to read that I was not crazy since others had some of the same problems. It might help some people, but I myself would NEVER take this medicine again!

I have experience a little bit of the bad taste I was warned about and the loose stools are bothersome but after having the flu,and now bacterial bronchitis with a touch of pnuemonia, this medication made me start feeling better within day.s

If you're reading this it's likely 6:00 in the morning and you haven't slept a wink. I wish for your sake and mine that i googled side effects BEFORE swallowing those pills, but you're probably up right now desperate to know what this thing can do. They worked almost immediately, but the side effects began then too. My mouth tastes like a coinstar machine and no amount of brushing or water washes it away. I suffer from insomnia, but I have the worst case I have ever dealt with due to biaxin. I had trouble falling asleep the first two nights and I chalked it up to the Biaxin gnome with a machete in my stomach-shooting pains, stomach death knells-but tonight after another night of sleeping few hours I have literally been awake all night. My thoughts were racing and I realized after a while that my eyes were actually wide open under my sleep mask. This must be what it feels like to be on a coke bender. My body feels like it's made of pudding and sandbags, but my brain won't shut down and my neck is full of tension, along with my lower back. I didn't get the poops, instead I was constipated. I was on this med for 2 days and began getting dierreah and cramps in my stomach.I also experience a bad taste in my mouth.I stopped taken it and am looking to get a diffrent perscription from my DR. Do not like.

The biaxin cleared my sinus infection BUT it shut down my kidneys. I ended up in the hospital and almost died.

I didnt experience the bad taste until day 5 of the medication; Experienced loose stools, restlessness and inability to sleep at night, woke up every hour or so. BUT my bronchitis is gone and I was feeling back to normal by day 3. The side effects suck, but Id take this medication again for the same problem.
