Ihave been on 3 different types of birth control for "21" years! I started when I was 18 to control my periods with Ortho-Novumm 7-7-7. In my 20's I tried the Depo shot and it worked well with and was convenient but expensive. Now that I am getting older, I am on Lutera and have been for over a decade and it is considered a ver low dos pill. The less estrogen as you get older, the better. The...

I am 18 now, and I had been taking Lutera birth control for about a year but I started skipping my period purposely every month. All you do is: instead of taking the placebo pills (the red pills), skip those and start a new pack the next day. I would not recommend that ANYONE do this because after that first year of taking Lutera, I started having breakthrough bleeding that got worse and worse and left me bleeding for a solid month. I am switching birth control now because the problem was a hormone imblance in my body. Lutera is not a bad birth control but it did cause some problems for me in the long run..Read More Read Less

i have been taking Lutera for about a year. birth control is supposed to help get things regular. well before bc, i would go 6 months without a period. now i still get a period every month but i never know what day its supposed to come!! it could be anywhere from tuesday- friday! and it doesnt make my period shorter because even when i start a new pack i still have my period halfway through the first week on the new pack. This is my first time on bc, but i dont think i like it too much!

A little nauseous the first few weeks I started, but have been fine since. I've had no side effects, haven't noticed any over-emotional-ness. One complaint is that I also tried to skip my period by starting a new pack (after I had been on the pill for a year). I skipped...that week. I had enough spotting the following week to seem like a real period.

I began taking Lutera about 2 years ago after switching from a different generic BC. Ive noticed that the week before my period i'm more emotional than when I was on other brands of birth control. Also, I tried to skip my period one time by starting the next pack early (dr said it was ok) and ended up spotting on and off for 2 months and then didnt get my period at all for a month.

The only draw back is that I got horrible headaches. But, overall, I have been satisfied with Lutera as a birth control. But always use a condom anyway!
