Prior to being prescribed the Asmanex twisthaler, I was using my rescue inhaler much more than prescribed...before bed, during the night, in the morning, etc. Since I began using Asmanex (almost 3 weeks ago), I have yet to have to use my rescue inhaler and I sleep through the whole night without issue. The only problem I have had with this product is that when you first use it, even with the dir...
How much did the "doctor" get paid by the drug maker to switch me from Advair??? According to the informational insert, this is a potentially dangerous "medicine"!

I did notice an improvement in lung function while I was on it, but I also started getting terrible bouts of nausea, several times a day (definitely not pregnate). I haven't taken the medication regularly, but within a couple days of starting the medication again I get terribly nauseous (sp?). My biggest complaints with this drugs is nausea and slight insomnia.

The most complicated puffer ever - designed by imbeciles! Terrible instructions, impossible to tell whether it's working. NO instructions on use with spacer. TOTAL waste of money. Ask for alternative until the brain-dead at Merck come up with something better.

Began using Asmanex in March 2013 to treat asthma. It took a few weeks for me to notice improved lung function, and I still have a ways to go to have "normal" function for my age. I no longer sigh in attempts to get deep breaths, and getting deep breaths/enough air has become much easier. Overall I think the twisthaler is easy to use. I have not had issues with the powder being left behind, now have I experienced an oral yeast infection. My doctor recommended rinsing a few times after use to be on the safe side. I currently still use Albuterol before exercise, though I anticipate that in a few months that won't be necessary because of Asmanex. I have yet to experience any side effects. No weight gain, headaches, other aches, sore throats. I am 100% satisfied with Asmanex at this point.Read More Read Less

This drug has worked to semi-control my asthma symptoms but I am unsure it is worth the cost and side effects. I was able to finally get the drug free through a Prescription Assistance Program, as I do not have prescription insurance coverage. I have appreciated the effectiveness of the drug but am now wondering if it is the cause of my headaches and ringing in the ears. Anyone else noticed constant ear-ringing? I've also had chronic sinus infections. Could this be a side effect?

Using Asmanex for the last week to replace Pulmicort (which brought many side effects)-all because insurance would not cover Flovent anymore. Asmanex performs much better than Pulmicort. I am not using my rescue inhailer daily. The only problem I have with Asmanex is the constant headache - as reported by others in this forum.

My daughter takes asmanex every time she gets a cold. She uses it for about a week and the hacking cough stops. She gets illness induced asthma and this has been the only thing that has helped. It knocks the cough right out. I have not noticed any side effects with this medication but she only takes it for about a week at a time.

My son has developed a sever sore throat and persistent cough since starting this medicine and has missed over a week of school. Sadly, this was the one our insurance considered "preferred". We've stopped and plan to resume Flovent despite our out of pocket cost (will still be cheaper than co-pays for repeated doctor visits)

Was prescribed this after Qvar failed to keep my symptoms away. Took a few days to get used to the dry powder inhalation. I gargle and brush after every use and have had no issues. It has kept my asthma symptoms pretty controlled except when I'm sick or my allergy triggers it. In fact I have not had to go on oral steroids since I started this in October 2012 which is a huge improvement for me. Have noticed some weight gain but it may not be related.

This drug does not correct the basic symptom, i.e. breathing difficulty. It reduces it. A side effect however is that it produces a growth of heavy hair on my chin. The hair is not like normal facial hair -fine and fuzzy, it is thick and stubborn. I am having it removed but this is a common effect that should be made known.

Longtime Pulmacort user. Insurance pushed Asthma doctor to change. Transition was difficult. Insomnia and nausea over, but very intense dreams. Concentration on work and activities is different. Asmanex is doing a great job with my breathing, just not as active. Hoping the activity level comes back.

But... I have been using this product for many years, and obtain it through the VA in San Diego. Recently I opened a packet and white powder poured out. I therefore didn't use that unit, but since I get 3 at a time, I went to the next one. I feel guilty that I did not report this incident, and wonder if I should have.

As a respiratory therapist & life long asthma sufferer, I chose this inhaler in the 220mcg x 60 doses after cost & result comparison. I found it more affordable for me since I have to pay out of pocket for any asthma preventative. I am able to use just 1 puff a day so my 60 puff inhaler lasts 2 months at half the cost of other inhaled steroids.

Chronic sinusitis resulted from using the Asmanex Twisthaler for just three days. Four weeks after discarding the inhaler, I am STILL in agonizing and debilitating pain. Consultations with two physicians have proved futile in resolving this problem. An appointment with an otolaryngologist is scheduled for next week. A warning label needs to be added to this product regarding SEVERE adverse sinus reactions so that the patient can be alerted prior to using this medication.

I am very satisfied with this inhaler. I was previously taking Advair. It has stopped working as well as before. I had developed nighttime asthma in addition to the asthma attacks during the day. I am proud to say I have not been woke up at all at night with asthma attacks any longer.

I have exercise onset asthma and I'm not seeing a great improvement with this medication. Add to that my hair has started thinning and my weight loss stopped within a week of starting it. I've been using it for about 5 weeks now I'm debating if I should bother continuing. I'm definitely not seeing enough benefit to justify the cost and I don't think my asthma is extreme enough to warrant the use of a drug that sounds this dangerous (read some of the side effects - yikes!).
