My husband has had angina for several years and it has done wonders for his condition. He has only been on it for a little over a week and has had to take only one nitro pill and he had only been on it for two days, but has not had angina since.

Take 1000 mg twice a day. Have to cut in half to handle. Feel weak after taking pill. I believe it is because of thyroid problems I have. I start medicine for thyroid in a couple of days. Maybe that will solve the problem with Ranxea.

For the first two weeks on Ranexa I was very agitated. The first few days it seemed to boast my energy level then the agitation started as my energy level subsided.

Had to increase to maximum dosage 2000mg a day very quickly, but works very well for my 20 year bout with angina. Had to stop Imdur for it to work, the two drugs don't seem to work well together. Some side effects but worth the results.

Before I started taking Ranexa, I had a tightness in my chest. Once I started taking it on a regular basis, the tightness went away. However, Ranexa is a very expensive medicine even with Insurance. There has to be a generic brand to replace it.

When I first started on it, I had some moments of extreme breathlessness, but that quickly passed. I had a less than continuous squeezing, and it was in my back more often than my chest. When I was tired, I'd have what I thought of as a true anginal pain, and Ranexa just made it go away. But the problem is, it just costs so much, and none of the drug plans pick it up unless you yell. If you're on Medicare Part D, it alone puts you in the donut hole by June. But it made me much more active. I lost weight and put on muscle, and I feel better than in years. Read More Read Less
