Objects in the Eye - Check Your Symptoms

Call 911 if the eyeball seems to be punctured.

Call a doctor if:

  • The object is over the colored part of the eye or is stuck in the eye. Do not try to remove the object.
  • There is blood over or in front of the colored part of the eye.
  • You can't remove an object from the eye.
  • You have removed the object but:
    • The pain is severe or does not go away.
    • It feels like there is still something in your eye.
    • Light hurts your eye.
    • Your vision is blurred.

    Your cornea may be scratched. Keep your eye closed as much as you can until you visit the doctor.
