Jeanne A. Carpenter, JD, is a partner in the international law firm of McDermott, Will, & Emery and the first person with epilepsy to serve as president of the Epilepsy Foundation. She was diagnosed with epilepsy after experiencing a grand mal seizure in her first year as an attorney. With the help of medication, her seizures are now under control, although she occasionally still experiences partial seizures.

Carpenter is a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University. She received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and is a member of the American Bar Association. She is married and lives in Virginia.
