Robert M. Stark, MD

Robert M. Stark, MD, is medical director of the Cardiovascular Prevention Program at Greenwich Hospital / Yale New Haven Health. He is a board-certified internist and cardiologist, and has a private practice in Greenwich. He has served as medical advisor to the National Running and Fitness Association in Washington, D.C., and is a past-president of the Connecticut Society of Internal Medicine. He teaches on the clinical faculty of New York Medical College as adjunct assistant professor of medicine.

Stark received his MD degree with honors from Harvard Medical School in 1974. He completed internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed cardiology fellowship training at the National Heart Institute, National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Md. While at the NIH he carried out research in lipids (cholesterol) and the advanced detection and treatment of coronary artery disease.

Stark has maintained an active interest in the areas of preventive cardiology and women's health. He has given invited presentations to the American Heart Association Baltimore-Washington Affiliate, U.S. Military Academy Hospital (West Point), Walter Reed Army Medical Center, University of California Santa Barbara, Scripps Institute, U.S. Food and Drug Administration hearings on women's health and dietary supplements, Andrews Air Force Base Hospital, Bethesda Naval Medical Center, Israeli Society of Atherosclerosis Research, and an international symposium on the treatment of hypertension (Rome, Italy).

Stark is responsible for the clinical teaching of medical students and residents in the internal medicine training program at Greenwich Hospital.
