Thomas P. Schmalzried is associate director of the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital's Joint Replacement Institute. He is assistant professor of orthopedic surgery and chief of joint replacement at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and president of California Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Associates in Los Angeles.
