It is a natural alternative to artificial sweetners yet safe for diabetics. I use it mainly to sweeten cereals and coffee and it provides a good flavor.

Severe nausea and ridiculously, overly, sweet taste. Bladder irritation follows a few hours after ingesting. Anyone with low blood pressure should be aware of its effect on blood pressure. Patient: inform thyself; take charge of your health and life!

Because Stevia available commercially is usually combined with erythritol or other sugars, the commercial products do not lower my blood sugar. However, I grow Stevia in my garden and have used the leaves to lower my blood sugar. Recently, I had a low blood sugar of 74 and ate a piece of hard candy. My blood sugar shot up to 235, very high for me. I was feeling very weak and tired and decided to eat a few of the Stevia plants leaves (4 or 5). My blood sugar fell from 235 to 130 in 30 minutes. The leaves did lower my blood sugar 105 points in 30 minutes, so PLEASE be careful in how many you use. Your experience may not be the same as mine. I use diet and exercise only to control my blood sugar, and I have NO experience with insulin and Stevia.Read More Read Less

I have been using powdered stevia for 10 years maybe more. I have had none of the effects mentioned. I use it all day long in ice tea. I have no complaints about it. I have recommended it for many years to friends and family. I believe that some people may be allergic to it as with many things, but I don't see it being dangerous to you if you are not allergic.

Keuriga is adding stevia to many of their drink products. I never use artificial sweeteners and I didn't think stevia would bother me, but I was wrong. I had terrible gas and was nauseated. Once I stopped drinking the Vue cup tea, the symptoms went away after a few days.

I was borderline diabetic. I have grown stevia for my own use for years with absolutly NO adverse reactions. It is organic, no pesticides or other chemicals used. I believe when you purchase many products grown for businesses for resale, they tend to use chemicals. ANYTHING sprayed or used on any plant does get absorbed by it and then passed on to us. Before the experts start telling you about side effects of any plant - use a non polluted sample along with a commercial one in testing. So many of these tests are skewed to promote other products such as aspertame or splenda. The best use I found for those is a fast effective ant killer. Keep the chemicals, I will stick with nature. I was given this to try to reduce sugar intake to help reduce hypoglycemia insulin surge after sweets. i liked it but after a couple of weeks I had burning tongue, lips and inner cheeks as if i had eaten something too hot. Stopped all other supplements and used sugar in my coffee instead of stevia drops. The burning got better then used stevia again in coffee with the burning flaring up again. Showed to doctor and dentist who thought it must be the stevia because it wasn't any other disease entity. It is slowly getting better.Read More Read Less

What do you mean by "treatment". The treatment is a diabetic diet (medical nutrition therapy), exercise, and management through medicine, if needed. Stevia complements the diabetic diet. Stevia is a sweet plant extract that can be used to sweeten drinks and doesn't raise blood sugar like sugar does.

Since taking this product two months ago I have noticed selling in my feet and hands. I don't know if it is Stevia but that is the only change I made to my diet.Has anyone else experienced similar conditions?

Unable to continue with because of sever allergy to RAGWEED. This should be included on the package of any product with Stevia as part of that product.

I have been using stevia for over 8 years to sweeten beverages. I started using it originally for weight loss. I am now a borderline diabetic so am continuing the treatment to reduce use of simple carbs. I also treat for hypertension and dysarrythmias all of which preexisted the Stevia use.I do not see that it has helped for Hypertension or dysarrythmias. My blood sugars are generally good. I use stevia in tea and coffee. prior to using stevia I consumed a lot of calories in sweetened beverages. I use the liquid drops and find a 4 oz bottle lasts me for months as it only takes a few drops to sweeten the beverage. I notice people on this page reporting diarrhea from stevia but I know truvia also contains maltodextrin which is a sugar alcohol.. sugar alcohols often have a laxative effect. I have not had this effect with liquid pure stevia. I have better weight control and unlike saccharin or aspartame it does not cause a hunger spike after using it. It also does not give me the headaches that aspartame did. It has a slightly bitter taste but this is masked by tea and coffee so I do not notice it the way I use it. Also very great in smoothies I use pure cranberry juice or tart cherry for my base which is very tart without stevia, but they are so good for you.Read More Read Less

After roughly 6 months of use, experiencing over active bladder along with reduced output a few hours after my morning coffee. As stevia is the only "new" thing in my diet, I'm looking to see if other people are having this side effect.

Every morning, I put my mug of coffee in the micro for one minute. One day I put the whole packet in all at once after the warm up. The result was an explosion of coffee into the air, If I had stayed close to the mug, I would have been severly scalded. Why did this happen? It has made me shy about using the product.

Stevia is of the sunflower plants. Those with sunflower allergies should not use this product.

I have Hepatitis C and have chosen to deal with it thru supplements. I went on Stevia - the liquid form for about 6 weeks and noticed itching on face and neck and upset stomach. I went off it for about 2 weeks and just today tried it just in my herbal tea - I am not experiencing the itching - but I do have an upset stomach after drinking the tea - like the first few sips. I won't bother with this product anymore - but I have a friend I can give it to. I use honey and maple sugar and molasses in baking etc.Read More Read Less

I have borderline HBP that has been difficult to control. I stumbled upon an article written by a doctor that suggested Stevia to help lower pressure. I switched from Splenda for sweetening to the Stevia and consume about 6 packets a day. My pressure has dropped by 12 points systolic and 5 points diasytolic. Just using it in my diet has helped. I keep careful records of my BP using a meter I purchased at Walgreen's. Very pleased with the Stevia results.
