Have been having terrible hot flashes for more than four months. They occur three or four times an hour throughout the day, and then on into the night making getting a good night's sleep almost impossible. I tried both magnesium and sage, both touted as remedies for hot flashes, neither did anything at all. But within 4 days of me trying Black Cohosh, my hot flashes began to lessen. Within 2 weeks...

At age 64, still had hot flashes, night sweats, 5, 6 times a day and night...lowest dose of Premarin did NOTHING, so I quit taking it and just endured the discomfort and sleep disruption for a couple of years. Tried Black Cohosh (540 mg. capsule, once daily) and within 24 hours of the first dose, hot flashes eased considerably and I was sleeping through the night with no night sweats. It surely worked for me!

I have taken black cohosh for 30 days, i have some stomach cramps (gas) but sometimes very painful, sometimes lightheaded, dizzy and even nausea occurs along with very mild hot flashes that last a very short time, what a relief! I am starting the new estroven am/pm with black cohosh in it, to help sleep at night too, i am hopefull with this...I still do have mood swings and headaches, but I've always had that. I am 27, w/ a hysterectomy at 25 for severe endometriosis. I regret having that surgery done. These symptoms and side effects suck in general. Kansas 11/09Read More Read Less

I have been useing the black Cohosh for about 1 year now. I take one pill at night. The hot falshes have decreased to 1 or 2 aweek and the night sweats 1 or 2 a month. It has been wonderful for me. I can not talk estrogen due to breast cancer in my family. This is natural and it works. My husband makes sure I don't go without. lol

I agree with the success of Black Cohosh of menopause. I do believe a blend is more efficient. I was introduced to black cohosh by a herbal healing physician for my endometriosis. It was marvelous. The blend (listed below)is suppose to boost the effiency of the black cohosh and by experience of using the blend and using the black cohosh straight I would have to strongly agree. I just started getting hot flashes a couple of weeks ago and I plan on getting back on "the blend". Don't ask me why I stopped. I use Soloray Hormon Blend)previously called Black Cohosh Blend)Read More Read Less

I took this over a 9-mo period. Initially seemed to help a lot. Then developed severe GI problems - needed total GI work up - GI dr told me to throw it away. Went off it for 3 weeks, first day back on all symptoms returned. Will never again take herbal treatment which is not regulated by the FDA and this is a prime example of why!

I am unable to take prescription HRT as I have embolism history. Severe night sweats and hot flashes began, and I got black cohosh, whole root. The hot flashes and night sweats disappeared almost immediately. I do already take otc omeprazole (prilosec) for mild stomach problems, so perhaps that is why I've not experienced nausea. I have however gained weight and am having a terrible time even stablizing my weight. I do seem to have had an actual appetite increase (as opposed to 'I just want to taste something right now; I'm not even hungry'.) No other side effects so far.Read More Read Less

I took this during perimenopause and had very mild symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats and no mood swings at all. The hot flashes were barely perceptible; no one noticed and I only felt mildly uncomfortable. I am now in menopause.

Menopause....I have taken this product 2 in the morning and 2 at night for over 15 years. No side effects except GREAT ones. Like no mood swings, no night sweats, better sleep at night, and most of all I am evenly good natured. Love this stuff!

I started to get very light headed. I seem to feel that I was on some kind of hard narcotic. This made me sick at my stomach. Also, I started experiencing fast heart beats at times. This may work for some but this was not for me. Your body chemistry may have a different effect. I will not take the herb again.

After only two weeks of taking this Black Cohosh, I developed severe Gout. My back, kness, shoulders, wrists and feet. I have been in pain for over two weeks and was finally diagnosed with Gout. Beware of taking this with antidepressants also, which I was also taking. I am still in pain and back to flashing, but hopefully I will be out pain and through with Gout, of which I have never had in my life prior to the use of the Black Cohosh.
