I can truly say, I have a new life. I can't say I have it back, since I never was without migraines since the age of 11 and I'm 34 now. So this has been a life changing experience. After suffering excruciating migraines for 23 years, the attacks started to become more and more frequent and untreatable even though I kept away from overuse of painkillers to avoid worsening the problem. Still they pe...

How much and how often should one take feverfew for hormonal migraine headaches? One poster here said to take 300 mg minimum of feverfew when a migraine comes on. Should one take it prior to migraines to try to head them off? I understand that everyone is different so it may just be a case of trial and error.

I've suffered with horrible migraines for quite some time now, wanted a more natural remedy and decided to try FeverFew. While it did help my migraines quite a bit, I had to stop taking because it SEVERELY messed up my periods. I had a 3 week long period while taking them and finally stopped them. I read later that quite a few women experienced the same reaction.

I used to have blinding headaches, including seeing double. After discovering feverfew and using it for a few months the headaches lessened and I never had visual disturbances again. It is now many years later and I use feverfew for many other aches as well.

Was recommended to use ferverfew. A neighbor suggested liquid form she used with great results. I used Gelstat. Squirt pre-dosed packet under tongue. Within 10 minutes migraine started to subside. Have been using ever since. It works for me. I am not promoting Gelstat just that this products main ingredient is feverfew and it worked...and rather quickly.

Please note that for migraines, feverfew is best used FRESH, fresh tinctured or at least freeze dried.

I took Feverfew for several weeks to help prevent my hormonal migraines. Big mistake. My menstrual cycle was completely thrown off balance (I spotted for 10 days before I got my period a whole week early). Since my migraines are hormonally related, the feverfew messed up my hormones and made me get 11 migraines in one month. I stopped it and I am still dealing with remnant migraine pain 8 days later. If you have a normal menstrual cycle or if your migraines are mainly hormonally related, I do NOT recommend this herb.Read More Read Less

I was a chronic migraine sufferer, with auras and left arm/face numbness and tunnel vision in need of heavy duty medication such as fiorinal in the past,, which left me with severe stomach aches, until I read about the herb feverfew. I have been taking feverfew in capsule form (150mg)daily for over 25 years with no side effects and very rarely need to take an additional one to stop a migraine from setting on (I also have light sensitivity causing migraines which is often hard to control). I tell all those who suffer from migraines to take feverfew, and those who actually continue to take it for several weeks see the benefits. Ironically, one of my co-workers stopped taking feverfew since she no longer was getting the migraines she suffered for many years, thinking that it was not necessary for her to take it anymore, only to find out that the migraines returned. I grow the plant in my garden, a very close relative of camomile - it looks pretty and spreads wonderfully - so that I can dry the leaves and make my own capsules. Unfortunately, since most sufferers prefer to go to their doctors and have strong drugs prescribed against migraines, access to feverfew has diminished, and many drug stores no longer carry it. I would highly recommend feverfew against migraines - a natural herb that has been used for century and still does the job wonderfully. Anna C. Read More Read Less

I had migraines a couple of times a week for decades. They were completely debilitating. My mother's doctor mentioned feverfew one day. I have been taking one tablet per day for the last 15 years and have not had a migraine since. Very occasionally, I get a mild sick headache but never migraines.

I tried feverfew for my migraines which I have struggled with since childhood, I found that if I take two at the onset it usually would get rid of my migraine but if taken more than once (tried taking daily for a couple weeks) it brought on menstruation and I had a shortened cycle. Since my headaches are mainly hormonal that is very bad. So try it but if your a woman be cautious.

I drink an herbal tea I found containing feverfew when I feel the onset of a Migraine or when I am really stressed and know I may get one. The feverfew tea does make me drowsy but I normally wake up with very little to no Migraine. I have had epilepsy since I was a child and this is one of the only ways I can relieve my headaches.

I don't use it as a preventative; I take Propranolol for that. I use a large dose (300 mg minimum) when I get a migraine. It works better than any abortive I've used. My migraines do not respond to the serotonin migraine drugs (triptans), and I get bad side effects from those. Mine are not food-related, and sensory stimuli and/or hormones cause mine. If yours are similar, you might find that feverfew is a wonderful addition to your migraine arsenal.
