I have PCOS. I spoke with my doctor and he gave me the go ahead to try this supplement. Most say it takes up to six months to see a difference, however I haven't had a period for nearly two years, but after only 1 month of use I got my period! I will continue to use this and look for even better results to help control my acne, and reduce cramps.

My reasons for taking it were more hormonal. I was getting angrier and more depressed. I didnt want to take a prescription antidepressant because if my work. I've be rn taking it for a month and my period came and went. No cramps! Still bloating. No teats or anger. No isolating myself. Going to stick with it. :)

Had reaction to this herb despite most studies saying it is safe. Severely swollen throat, etc. Just to let people know it can happen and to be careful when taking anything new.

I started taking vitex for irregular periods, which I've had since I was a teen. BC has been helpful sometimes making me regular but now that we are ttc..I stopped BC and went from 27 day cycles to 65+ day cycles again. I started vitex about 2 and a half months ago. My last cycle was 37 days and this cycle was 31 days. I am so excited! Thank God I found vitex. It has been the only thing that has turned everything around for me. I hope this helps someone. (:

I don't think anyone here researched this herb before taking. First and MOST importantly, Vitex does NOT work in less than 3-4 months. It MUST have time to build up in your system and is takes a long time to do so. That being said, once it does build up, it works AMAZINGLY well. I've been taking this herb for a couple of years now because I suffer from severe PMS (PMDD) and it really curbs the mood swings and many physical symptoms (breast tenderness, etc). This is a definite must for PMS sufferers. Just take one good quality Vitex (I always opt for the one that guarantees the potency and states this on the bottle) every day, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and you will start to see a marked improvement in no time.Read More Read Less

Using the essential oil for heavy, prolonged menstrual flow and debilitating cramps. I've been on it for two weeks and just started my next cycle. So far so good--minimal cramps and markedly decreased flow. I plan to stick with it, as I've read it can take three to six months to fully regulate the cycle.

My gynecologist recommended this for heavy menstrual bleeding. I have not noticed any changes. However, I was not told that it could interfere with my Bipolar Disorder. More specifically, it should NOT be take if you are taking Seroquel. I experienced many Hypomania Symptoms after starting this herb. I have stopped taking it and I am back to myself again - No more Hypomania!

Caution!!!! I used it for 3 days and developed agitation and racing thoughts - whether this interacted with the Paxil I'm on, I don't know. Awful experience.

I had become very easily angered and cranky for some time. I was not feeling settled or calm. Two doctors ignored my belief that I was not depressed (e.g. no sleep problems, not teary or lethargic etc) and my query about it being a possible menopausal / perimenopausal symptom. I went elsewhere and had my Mirena (progesterone) removed which I had had for 3 years. Fortunately my next menstrual cycle not as heavy and shorter than it had been prior to Mirena. A 3rd (female middle-aged) doctor then suggested Chasteberry. Amazing difference - feeling calm & my old self. No side effects so far - but admittedly early days yet. Read More Read Less

I started taking vitex due to an irregular cycle. I took vitex for around 2 years. It helped with acne as well as some PMS symptoms such as bloating, stomach cramps, and breast tenderness. I stopped it to give my body a break and as soon as I stopped it, the acne came back and I also had more regular headaches. Considering going back on vitex to help with conception although to be honest I didnt see much difference with cycle, and it still was unpredictable and not very often (between 1 and 3 months apart)Read More Read Less

Unfortunately I seem to be one of the few people with the uncommon side effect of really bad nausea. I wanted to regulate my periods so I could try to conceive. I was happy with my ovulation test results after taking the chaste berry supplement, but I had to discontinue using it because I felt so nauseous. I still believe this supplement can work very well for others.

I have PCOS and took Vitex for just over 2 months before getting pregnant. Along with helping me to conceive it also improved my PMS symptoms and my excessive menstrual flow was reduced dramatically! :)
