There seems to be a lack of distinction in this review between lithium OROTATE (available w/o a prescription), and Lithium CARBONATE (prescription only). I was diagnosed with Bipolar I when I was 16, (upon having my 1st manic episode requiring in-patient hosp.) I took lithium carbonate for more than 30 years. I then (slowly) transitioned to lithium orotate, due to concerns of side effects with th...

I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when I was 6 years old and this vile substance was forced down my throat for 11 years. The end results during my formative years, and current health/future health were disastrous. Iv seen it erode away at the minds of family members who took it as well, and who sadly refuse to do without.

I have been taking Lithium Orotate (Biovea 5mg) for the past 5 days and I'm happy to say it works for my GAD and mild depression. Before taking LO, I was always on the edge, unable to relax and all i want to do was curl into a ball and be alone. But now i feel so much better,im able to sit still, relax and just let go. I'm so glad it worked.

By the second day, I had not felt that good in years. I have been on lithium for many years now and would never go back to main stream meds. I don't have side effects and I sleep much better now.

Hello, I'm 34 & I take lithium for my bipolar and I've been on it for 6 months now. I take 300 mg 3 times a day which has really helped me. My main complaint has been acne, the pain behind my eyes and howhow almost everything taste nasty. Otherwise I've had pretty good success so far with my treatment.

I do not like the medication. It makes me extremely sleepy. It also seems to cause really bad tremors and involuntary muscle movement. I do a lot of typing in my line of work so it is extremely disruptive to my livelihood.

I took lithium from 1981 to 1997. It destroyed my kidneys. Now I'm on kidney dialysis and I need a transplant.

For a normally happy and easy going person, Struggling with depression even for a short time was alarming. Started with one 120 mg tab every morning and began feeling better almost immediately. My doctor recommended 5 mg but I found the 120 mg first so I started it. Will probably change to the 5 mg soon but will keep the 125 mg handy just in case.

I am 40 years old - I was diagnosed Bipolar II about 3 years ago. I have been on so many medications and was resistent to Lithium. After the initial tremor subsided I have been happy with the results for over a year now. There has been some weight gain, but it's worth it for a peaceful mind. Keep in mind that this is all a guessing game, so what works for some may not work for others. I wish everyone the most peaceful mind and body possible.

After trying several SGAs,depakote, tegretol, and neurontin, and still having instability I finally learned to accept lithium as the one thing that keeps me the most stable. I was resistant to lithium but in spite of weight gain and flattening of emotions and some foggy thinking, it works best as far as helping me keep my job and getting along with people. I do take a medication holiday once every couple of weeks. The other meds i tried either were ineffective or made me want to sleep all the time or caused worse weight gain or caused diabetes. I had very bad problems working on other meds. I've also had two sets of ect in my life. Every time I've gone off lithium I've always returned because the alternatives are worse. It does allow me to have a life. And that's not bad. Read More Read Less
