Robert Allen is the associate director for copyediting at WebMD. He leads the team responsible for copy editing and publishing content for WebMD. He maintains the WebMD style guide and makes sure that all WebMD content adheres to WebMD's editorial standards.
Allen earned a bachelor's degree in astronomy from the University of Kansas. Then he switched tracks and got a master's in journalism, also from the University of Kansas, with a plan of pursuing science journalism.
Allen started his copy editing career at the St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press, moving up to assistant managing editor. He left Missouri and moved to Atlanta in 1999, where he joined the copy desk of WebMD.
Allen is a member of ACES, the Society for Editing.
