Anthony Fiore, MD, MPH

Anthony Fiore is a medical epidemiologist for the Influenza Division of the CDC and holds the rank of captain in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service. Fiore is board certified in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and preventive medicine.

Fiore has worked at the CDC since 1995. Before this position, Fiore was an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer in the Respiratory Diseases Branch and a medical epidemiologist in the Division of Viral Hepatitis at the CDC.

As a medical epidemiologist, Fiore conducts studies on influenza epidemiology, vaccines, and antiviral medications, develops seasonal influenza vaccine policies, and acts as the CDC liaison to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) influenza working group.

Fiore is an infectious disease expert who has presented his work at national and international meetings. He is the author or co-author of more than 80 scientific publications.

He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Johns Hopkins University, his medical degree from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Public Health degree from Emory University.
