Lifestyle changes in psoriatic arthritis need to start with the first visit when we make, or even suspect, that someone might have psoriatic arthritis. We need to make sure that people remain physically fit, that they get good sleep, and that they have a good diet.

So exercise, when it comes to psoriatic arthritis, stretching and maintaining good mechanics and alignment are really important. We're trying to prevent fusion of a joint, particularly someplace in the spine, or shortening along a tendon, so you really want to focus on that stretching, and strengthening, and good alignment.

People might have some low level gut inflammation, so it's important for them to watch what they eat for gut health.

Stress can affect the immune system and make more inflammation. So things like meditation, mindfulness, exercise, like aerobics, just going for a walk, or meditating in nature, whatever it takes to sort of lower your stress levels, may help you, ultimately, in some with inflammation.
