Jayne Garrison manages and edits consumer special projects for WebMD.
Garrison joined WebMD in 2000 after 14 years in health and medical journalism. She has served as the news editor for health magazine, and as the science and medicine editor for the San Jose Mercury News. She also served as a program officer for the Kaiser Family Foundation, organizing educational press briefings on health insurance issues.
She began her career in health journalism at the San Francisco Examiner, covering the AIDS epidemic and health insurance issues. There she won awards of excellence from the California Medical Association and the Association of Hospitals and Health Systems for "The Health Insurance Squeeze," a series about gaps in the health care system.
Garrison graduated with honors from Columbia University in 1984 with a master's degree in journalism, and a subspecialty in business and economics.
