Mark J. Stickney, DVM, completed his undergraduate degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University in 1993 before attending veterinary school there. He completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1997. After veterinary school, Stickney completed a year-long rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He also completed an American Board of Veterinary Practitioners residency in companion animal medicine and surgery while working in the outpatient service and the exotic animal medicine and surgery service at Mississippi State.
Stickney joined the faculty at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2002. He is currently the director of General Surgery Services. Stickney enjoys teaching veterinary students and educating clients. He views the veterinarian-client-patient relationship as a team endeavor to promote the health of the pet and the human-animal bond. Stickney is regularly interviewed for the syndicated column, Pet Talk, and is a regular guest on Brazos Valley This Morning with his dog, Rizzo.
