Carol DerSarkissian, MD

Carol DerSarkissian, MD, is a practicing board-certified emergency physician, a medical futurist, and a patient advocate. She is currently the medical director at Ezra Health, a practice focused on early cancer detection through MRI screening enabled by artificial intelligence. 

Since 2002, she has practiced medicine in large, high-acuity hospitals, including NYU/Bellevue Hospital and USC/Los Angeles County Hospital. And she continues to see patients in New York City. DerSarkissian is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is an examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

She is a former clinical assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. Her academic work focused on using virtual reality to train medical students to take care of emergency patients. For over 10 years, she was also the director of quality improvement in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Manhattan Veterans Association Hospital.   

DerSarkissian founded and launched Medical Advising for Patients (M.A.P.), a company enabling patients to better understand their health and empowering them to make more informed decisions regarding their medical needs. 

She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Southern California as a Dean’s Scholar. She was selected for an OB/GYN internship at Harvard Beth Israel Deaconess. After her internship, DerSarkissian completed her emergency medicine residency at NYU/Bellevue. 

She currently lives in New York City with her family.
