No side effects thats good, and if any will go away within a week. was prescribed this for my ocd and depression, still not the beneficial relief but maybe doing more on my anxiety side than depression.

Having suffered from chronic depression and obsessive worry/fearful thoughts since I was young, I decided to try an anti-depressant in my latter teens, early 20's. I tried Prozac and Paxil and really suffered due to side affects with both drugs. My Dr. prescribed Luvox about 10 years ago and it has allowed me to live a normal life. It helped me put problems and issues in to perspective so that I could deal with things in a more appropriate manner. It did not make life "rosey" by any means but helped me cope. I had some initial side affects that I worked through i.e. lethargy, some hand shaking but this subsided after a few weeks. I take the dosage earlier in the evening so that by morning the lethargy is much less. I take the 100 mg. dosage. Combining this with yoga and/or tai chi has helped me tremendously. Also, Dialectical Behavior Therapy is of benefit as well. Good luck and God Bless!Read More Read Less

I am 46 and have had OCD since I was 17. Started taken Luvox in 1998 and it has taken the edge off of my repeating habits. It will never cure my OCD but mentally makes me feel better. Carla, I read your review and would like to find out more about how you are doing?

After many tries with different meds Luvox is the one that helps my OCD. While I am by no means free of OCD it is livable now. I've been on 100mg for 12 years now and it is a great medication. I'm so happy to have found a good one for me. I recently cut down to 50mg about 9 months ago which has helped keep me from gaining the weight I did with the regular dose. Truly a blessing for those with OCD!

I was prescribed Luvox 4 days ago and three days into my treatment, had to go to the emergency room for convulsions and a rapid heartbeat. I was told by the er nurse to continue taking it and subsequently went back to the er the next day. I am going to my doctor tomorrow to try something else.

Have been on regular Luvox for years, but could never up my dosage because of stomach pain/sickness and drowsiness. This has helped because it is slow releasing. Initial side affects starting to go away except for diarrhea.

When you ADHD and have OCD, this medication does not help at all. Concerta assists with the Insomnia and focus levels and Luvox on the other hand, had the complete opposite effect.I could not hold any food substances down for over a week and slep a maximum of 2-3 hours per night. During the day i felt as though i was on a "high" and would slip away into "blank" thought patches. Stopped the drug immediately and within 24 hours i could feel the difference.

I've been on Luvox for over 10 years & it changed my life. My doctor initially prescribed it to help me get through my divorce. It took a few weeks to get used to it because I felt a bit like I was in a fog at first. But after a few weeks, I felt normal. I didn't think it was doing anything until a few months later when I thought back and realized how much calmer I'd been and how I could handle things much easier. As time went on, I realized that I didn't feel panic in stressful situations & I realize now that I had an anxiety problem and should have been on this my whole adult life. I still feel all emotions: anxiety, worry, stress, panic, etc but in a way more controlled manor. Several times over the years I have decided I'm ok now because I feel "normal" and I've decided to slowly wean off the luvox. But every time I've done this I realize how much it helps me to just feel "normal". My only side effect has been possible lowered libido. Hope this helps.Read More Read Less

Luvox has changed my life. It has decreased my obessive thoughts and anxiety. It is a miracle drug for me! The only drawback is mild decreased sexual drive, like most SSRIs.

The best medication for OCD! None others had worked for me. I find this to have no side effects where other tricyclics antidepressants did.

I was diagnosed with OCD/Aspbergers syndrome when i was 20. I am now 32 it worked really well for me but I have decided to come off of it. I was on 600 mg. I am down to 200 mg. Never thought it would happen. If anyone wants to talk please leave a comment.
