Had a sore throat so painful I thought it was strep and went to urgent care. The rapid strep test came back negative so it was just a really painful sore throat. The Dr. gave me this RX for the pain and it helped tremendously! It's pretty thick so I'm not sure how any "gargling" would take place so I just swallow it. I was prescribed this medication to ease my severe sore strep throat along with Amoxicillin and Benzonatate tablets. The directions clearly say "Swish and gargle 15mls (about one tablespoon) for 15 seconds every 4hrs while awake for pain. Spit out, do not swallow". my opinion is that its too thick and you cant get a good gargle in my throat so my tonge was numb but not the back of my throat and its terrable tasting

This medication is so thick, it is almost impossible to get it to the back of the throat for gargling. It was prescribed for me to ease throat irritation, when in fact my problem is a staph infection needing an antibiotic. I was unable to use it properly even once.
