I have been taking 2 naproxen twice a day for a couple of years with very good pain relief. Cardiologist now recommends I stop or alternate with Tylenol. Two weeks in and I am miserable . 67 years old, female, retired nurse. Kidney and hepatic tests are normal. I'm going back to what works.

I have taken this drug at different times for different types of pain. I can't take ibuprofen anymore because it is very hard on my stomach. Tylenol type pain relievers don't help me much so I have tried the naproxen. It is pretty effective at relieving moderate pain and reducing more heavy pain. Each time that I've had to take it for more than one day I get heart palpitations that get worse an...

Helps with the pain of gout but is making me very sleepy. Hard to work when all you want to do is take a nap but even harder when dealing with the gout.

I too have severe cramping, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting with my period. My gyno said the severe symptoms were the result of excessive prostaglandin production, which causes contraction of smooth muscle tissue of the intestines and uterus. I tried naproxen occasionally, with moderate success. She suggested taking it for 3 days prior to my period, and this really works! I am so happy to not go through all that every month.

I have stage 4 endometriosis and have servere cramping with my periods. Naproxen is the ONLY OTC pain reliever that relieves my servere pain. Tylenol and IBprofen I have to take so many to work for my cramps that it upsets my stomach and doesnt work nearly as well as naproxen. I had a RX for 500mg naproxen 2 times per day as needed for my endometriosis but I can take 2 220mg OTC naproxen 2 x per day for the same benefit. I have been using naproxen for about 12 years every month and have never had any negative side effects. Read More Read Less

The package labeling does not significantly warn about potential vision problems or what they might be. After following the dosing instructions, I started noticing "lightning flashes," large black spots and blurred vision. I sought immediate medical attention from an opthalmic surgeon, who had done cataract surgery on my eye and now suspected a tear or detachment. Although he did not find either of those, my vitreous in my eye had pulled away the iris and is blurring my vision. After several days and discontinuing the use of naproxen the blurriness has not stopped, but the flashes have significantly diminished and I do not have the large black spots, though I have small black spots like a flock of birds flying across my vision. I took it for a toothache, and it helped for a while, but if you take it after the pain has hit, it takes forever. I've never taken any more than the recommended dosage, but I'm wondering should I add another one, because it doesn't seem like they last very long, considering you can only take 3 pills a day.

Nothing seemed to touch the pain, and I can't take narcotics as I drive a bus. Naproxen makes the pain bearable, I can work and function without being doped up.

Taking more than directions say and it still does not alleviate the pain, but makes my stomach burn if I use more than 4 per day over several days. I do take it with food.

I've only been taking this for about a week but I can already tell a difference in the reduction of pain. I have several bulging discs which are also pressing on my sciatic nerve. I'm not painfree - but I feel better now than I have in a long time!

I am using this medication BID for inflammation and pain in my knee that brought on fluid buildup as well (all from overuse) This medication has definitely helped with the inflammation. Just don't like taking it 2x a day.

Apparently I’m allergic to Naproxen Sodium. Thirty minutes after taking the medicine my throat was tingling, soon I was covered with hives; within 10 minutes I was having trouble breathing. My sister (a nurse) gave me 50 mg of Benedril and dialed 911, I was anaphylactic shock. I was treated at the hospital and released 3 hours later.

The arthritis in my hip joints cause me severe pain. The Naproxen Sodium 220mg give me tremendous relief. I take one in the morning and one at night at bedtime. I don't think I could function without one. I am concerned about the side effects, but the effect of NOT taking it is very severe. For now I'll risk the side effects.

My cramps are so bad that a upset stomach just added to the fire...it did not work for me...my pain shoots down my legs and into my back, and I asked my doc how many a day I could take and I was at max dose...she also said take it 3 days before expected periods and you will find difference. Well my schedule is so out in left feild that I was never able to start taking the pills on time..
