I am taking this prescription for an upper respiratory infection with a very sore throat, body aches, and fever -- was unable to eat or sleep. I had almost immediate relief of symptoms after taking the medication and have had none of the side effects described by other reviewers. I wonder if people only review drugs if they have a bad result...

I am a pianist 85 years of age and have had skin peal on my fingers and two split open so I could not play the piano. Then I started having swollen feet and sores that leaked fluids. I went into a health clinic where the Dr. prescribed cephalexin 500. I take it 3x a day and fingers have cleared up and feet getting better. No side effects! Hooray!!

I was prescribed this medication as a preventative of infection after surgery on my arm to remove a benign tumor. Within a couple days, i began experiencing side effects: extreme lethargy, weakness, headaches, stomach issues, dizziness, no appetite (I could not eat for days). I rarely take drugs of any kind and this one hit me hard. I have also never had adverse affects to antibiotics. I am 54 years old. After reading a lot of reviews, I think this drug is dangerous. Another side note, my mother told me today that she had adverse affects as well several years ago from this drug, she passed out in the bathroom and cut herself as she fell. Read More Read Less

Obviously everyone reacts to antibiotics differently, but, for me the cephalexin was the only thing that worked after trying 4 different antibiotics for my complicated UTI. I felt better after the first dose and as long as I ate before taking it, I had no side effects. I did get a yeast infection after but that's easily curable and after having a UTI/kidney infection for almost three months, a yeast infection wasn't a big deal. I'll definitely ask for this drug in the future if another UTI pops up (knock on wood it doesn't).Read More Read Less

prescribed by dermatologist after mohs surgery to combat possible infection. No side effects but noticed my glucose went up around 200 immediately after first pill and a few days after. Just finished last pill (3/day for 5 days) and sugar seems to be coming back to my normal (110-130).

I was prescribed this for a skin infection. I did not have one single side effect on this antibiotic, I was amazed! Did the job and no nasty side effects like most all others.

was diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and after 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, I began taking 500mg twice a day. I have been taking it a month now with only 2 more weeks to go. I started out very fatigued, but that part has gotten better. I also have a slight headache about half of the time, but enough to make me just not feel well. I also encountered stomach discomfort, nausea, and a little dirrhea.

BEWARE... this med will give you a horrible headache. Some stomach discomfort even when taken with food. Overall I am not sure if it is helping me or not. Guess I'll find out when I go back to my Dr for a recheck.

I am very happy with this medication. I was prescribed 500mg to take twice a day for 7 days for a UTI. For the most part the medication has been very tolerable. I did take one pill with no food, stomach started to hurt a little. I immediately knew I needed to eat something like crackers or some kind of food that would coat my stomach. I also drank a lot of water. The little pain went away immediately. After that one pill I knew I needed to take it with a meal. I am on my 7th day and my UTI feels like it is completely cured. I had no diarrhea, drowsiness or dizziness while using this medication. I'd slept like a baby. I am very happy with this medication, I would take it again. Read More Read Less

The doctor prescribed me this drug for what she thought was a staph infection which turned out to be an unknown oozing black lesion on my arm. After about four days of taking the antibiotic I began to break out in hives. They quickly spread over my entire body until I could do nothing but stand because of how bad they were. The hives and swelling started to close my eyes shut then became hard to breath, I went to the ER and was out on an IV with several different medicines. The hives did not completely go away for another week and a half. Read More Read Less

I haven't done to bad with this medication as long as I take a high dose of probiotics. That helps a lot with not feeling terrible during the treatment. Seems to be helping!
