This is the ONLY muscle relaxer that is worth a damn, unless you want to take something that makes you lay flat on your back like flexeril and gives you cotton mouth like you drank too much. skelaxin - can you say USELESS and expensive on top of that. I always find it humorous that the doctors who won't prescribe soma because it is "addictive". it is "addictive" because it actually WORKS...

I have tried different muscle relaxers over the years. Soma seems to be the most effective with my back spasms and with fibromyalgia.

My prescription is for 350 mg 2x a day, however, I only take these at bedtime because they make me so sleepy. I have severe sciatic nerve damage and this is what my neurologist changed me to after the flexeril stopped working. I read through the reviews and am blown away at the complaints about it being addictive, making people sleepy, feeling drunk, etc....does anyone READ the information that is sent home with you when you fill your prescription??? It explains ALL of this! You should not be taking this and trying to go about your daily chores, like driving and such. The main reason that people become addicted to meds is because they overtake their meds. It clearly states that "taking more than the recommended dosage does not make this medication more effective and is not recommended because at higher dosages, dependency can occur". Even though my prescription says to take it twice a day, I choose to only take it once UNLESS I am just having a really bad day and I'm in a lot of pain and I know I'm not going to be going out anywhere. This medication DOES work when taken correctly. I take this in combination with pain medication at night and it helps me to sleep all night.Read More Read Less

This medication has saved my life from suffering from acute muscle spasms. Before I got this medicine I was taking Flexirel and it did not work at all. I have been taking it for about 8 years 4 times a day 350mg. With this medicine I have almost no pain and spasms from Sciatic pain.

This has been the best muscle relaxer I have ever tried. The only thing is it can constipate you if you take other meds for diabetic neuropathy or fybromyalgia with this medication.

It worked so good to help me go to sleep faster but once I got use to the dosage that quit and it's been many years since I was able to go to sleep right away I use it with my sleeping pill also I had to increase my sleeping pill and I was hoping I could get rid of my sleeping pill I really hate it but it was the only med that I could get some sleep with and like all my meds I am on a high dose at first I was able to lower the sleeping pill but now I had to take more): ):

Does anybody have any idea why the doctors are not prescribing this any more? All they throw at you is tramadol(ultram). After 32 years of taking soma, they tell me it is addictive. I ended up with a heart attack, because your heart is a muscle, also. But who cares?

I have had Fribomyalgia and degenerative joint disease for 15 years. In those 15 years I have been tried on many many drugs to treat the vast problem resulting from the fibro. I live In chronic pain but try very hard to live and function as normal as possible. I have strange reactions to medication so I have to be careful and aware. Soma works very well for me. It along with pain med helped me to live a very functioning active daily life. I had the same Dr. For 27 years. He was the only Dr. I trusted. Well he retired 2 years ago and now I am having problems trying to find a Dr. I am comfortable with because the first thing they do is start changing my meds. I am now in pain management and they are no longer going to prescribe Soma because of these irresponsible people abuse it or selling it. So I am once again a guinea pig. Currently trying Robaxin 750 guess it works a little but mostly irritates my severe acid reflux. I don't know what to do now because I have so many side effects when it comes to meds. Very sad that people who truly need a med that works for them can't get.Read More Read Less

Been on A-Z muscle relaxers and so far this one does the job,I have only been taking half of a 350mg and it works. My wife has MS and last night she had the first and worse leg cramps ever, gave her a 1/2 and she was fine and slept like a baby.Today no pain. Great drug so far. Hope I can say that later.

Soma is the only muscle relaxer that really works.I have to take it at bedtime though because it will make you very sleepy. I do not abuse it, so what is the problem?

Soma was originally prescribed for fibromyalgia through a pain clinic. Now I also have spinal stenosis and still go to the same pain clinic. Other treatments including spinal and other injections and extensive physical therapy have not worked for me for either of these condditions. Soma made it possible for me to continue working until I was 68 years old. Now it helps with pain and sleep. Since the pain disrupts sleep, the sedation from Soma gives me restful sleep which is essential in getting relief, especially for fibromyalgia. It is hard for me to find medicines that work whenever I have any medical problem and I usually have to try many drugs before something helps. Soma as been a wonder drug for me and has given me many years of higher quality life which I would not have had without it. I hope that it will continue to be available and that concerns about addiction in some people will not result in it being taken away from those of us who have benefited so much from it.Read More Read Less

I have been on extremely strong muscle relaxers for the last 15 yrs or so and this is the ONLY one that has even come close to helping me. I take the generic form and sometimes it does make me feel tired but that is a small price to pay in my opinion for relief. No, it does not take away all my pain but then nothing does. If I did not take Soma, along with other other meds that are prescribed for my condition (ruptured discs, 4 surgeries, bulging discs, and now arthritis from the whole deal I guess) my quality of life would be very low and I wouldn't be able to enjoy even simple activities. I am thankful I have a compassionate team of doctors who specialize in the spine and understand my pain.Read More Read Less
