My family Doc noticed my ugly, thick, yellow toenails during a routine physical. He asked me if I would mind taking a Lamisil tablet once daily for one month to have normal nails again. I was ecstatic, hoping that I could once again wear sandals in public. After finishing the meds, I noticed that my toenails were changing back to normal. Today they are the same as when I was a teenager! But wait, ...

I don't know whether i had side effects from lamisil because i was taking other meds that side effects were constipation and nausea so i can't pinpoint it. Anyway I have just finished by 90 day regimen and I have to say my toenails are beautiful. They were very dark all of my toes on both feet. There is still a little dark around the edge of a couple of the toes, so I do have a extra bottle so I am going to keep taking them for another 30 days.

I am now into my 3rd month on this med. I swore myself off any type of liquor during the time I am on this medication, so that I could avoid ill effects to my liver. I have been taking monthly blood tests, just to keep on top of it. So far, my feet seem much softer and my nails are now pink in color. The one side effect that I have noticed began in the 2nd half of the second month that I was taking the med. My taste is skewed. Our reverse osmosis water even had a funny taste! Until I figured out that it was a result of the med, I had the repairmen replace our filter! I can't taste sweet, salty or spicy! Foods taste very bland to me! So maybe you could say a good side effect of this drug is mild weight loss!!! Hopefully, this will not be a permanent side effect! Anyone out there have this effect? Hopefully, in about 3 weeks when I am done with the treatment, I will have my taste restored, and shortly thereafter have the beautiful toenails I so desire!Read More Read Less

Had very bad reactions to this medicine. Started with mild headache. After week 4 problem increased to nauesa and stomache pains. After week 5 problems increased to extreme itching all over, very dark urine, and jundice in skin and eyes. Stopped using after week 5. Blood test before using drug showed completely normal liver function. Blood test after week 5 showed problems with liver function. I am a healthy person and was not on any other medication at the time. Be very careful with this medicine. If you choose to use it be sure to get frequent blood tests to test the liver function. I became very sick during the short ten days I took the drug. I had my liver checked before starting the drug. I was extremely nauseated and constipated while taking the drug. The eighth day I threw up violently and nightly leg aches began. I also had bad smelling perspiration. Careful when taking this drug.

Lamisil is a terrible drug. It works by storing itself in EVERY SINGLE FAT CELL of your body. Because of this Lamisil takes 6-7 months to deplete itself from your body, and then it will take another 6-7 months for your body to re-adjust itself back to normal from any side effects you may be experiencing. I know this because 6-7 days into taking this drug i got serverly constipated for 2 weeks and then it was terrible diarrhea for months afterwords. This information was provided to me from lab chemists for the state of new york and from people who have taken the drug. Everyone who has had a reaction to this drug, just hang tight. It will go away!Read More Read Less

I am having excellent results. Just to help prevent any liver problems I started taking Milk Thistle and so far so good. I have been taking it for 8 weeks.

I took lamisil a few years ago, I had very bad fungus in my toenails and the bottom of my feet were so dry that they would crack and bleed. I took the meds for three months and the bottom of my feet became soft and smooth before I even stopped taking it. After stopping the meds my toenails grew out and now two years later my feet and toenails are pretty much perfect! (No side affects whatsoever!) Worked great for me.

I have used the 90-day Lamisil regimen on three occasions in the last ten years with no significant side effects. Each time the fungus cleared up nicely within six months, but always returned about a year later. I am now searching for a more effective long term cure.

After treatment with topical antifungals, which did not work....I have been on lamasil for 6 weeks and have had relatively good results. However I have had an elevated AST,(liver enzyme) and very severe constipation. I still have rash symptoms and wonder how long I will need to use this medication. I also am on Crestor which also can cause liver damage, so I am reluctant to continue using the lamasil. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL WHILE TAKING THESE MEDS.

I took the generic one time and within 6 hours woke up overwhelmed with nausea and a bad headache. I called my Dr and he said to stop the treatment immediately. It took almost 24 hours to get somewhat back to normal -- this is now the day after and I still feel a little out of it but much better. I'm sad about my toenail -- it is sometimes painful and always terrible to look at, but I'll live with it. I had all the preliminary blood work done (liver enzymes) and an expensive Rx co-pay, but it's just not worth it.Read More Read Less
