I have been on this medication a little over 1 year. I am 62 years old. I have complained to my eye doctor about the pink eye symptoms, he gave me more eye drops to combat those sytoms and basically said liv e with it. But this week at work as a nurse, I began with sudden onset, debilitating and painful hip joint pain. It required steroids, percocet and xray When the xray was negative, I look...

After six days of using Xalatan, my eyes became extremely bloodshot, swollen, my eye lids are painful, dripping fluid and having my eyelids stuck together when I wake up in the morning. I can barely see out of my right eye. The left eye is not as effected. I do not intend to continue using this product.

WOW, after reading other's comments, I now think I know why I have such horrendous headaches..........and joint pain -- who knew?? These reviews are what people need to read when taking any drugs !! I had great success with the drug dropping my pressure from 21/19 (borderline) to 13/13 BUT I don't know that I will keep taking if this is what's causing my pain. I'll call dr asap. Without reading these, I would NEVER have put 2 and 2 together. I take anti-inflammatory drugs and just couldn't figure out where this pain in my lower neck was coming from all of a sudden. But it makes since because I get the pain first thing when I wake up and it gets better as the day goes on. I'm feeling fine tonight so think I'll skip it just one night and then see if the pain is there in the morning. AND THE EXPENSE !! I've been told Tolmoptic works just as well and is much cheaper per my pharmacist..........told my eye dr this but "yada yada yada", "new drugs" are always best !! Well, if I'm taking it because it is borderline AND the other drug that has caused the Glaucoma may be stopped, I think I need to check further into other drugs !! Read More Read Less

This drug caused severe joint and muscle pain anywhere there was inflammation in my body. This a prostaglandin, a substance known to cause inflammation and pain normally in the body. DO NOT USE THIS DRUG!

But this week at work as a nurse, I began with sudden onset, debilitating and painful hip joint pain. It required steroids, percocet and xray When the xray was negative, I looked at other causes. Very little is written in the sideeffects regarding joint pains, but this blog from users has confirmed suspicions. My doctor has changed the prescription but doubts this medicine is the cause. I personally know that my 82 y/o mother figured this out on her own when she suddenly could not move her shoulder Because she is old, no one wanted to listen.!!!!Read More Read Less

After 6 weeks of use, eye pressure has decreased from 19-14. Was apprehensive at first due to the many possible side effects, but have not experienced a single one as of yet, just very mild stinging upon instilling a drop at bedtime, lasts a minute or less... very happy with this medication.

So many side affects for me I felt like I was losing what sight I have left. Pay attention to what your body is saying to you! Upon getting RX was told there were virtually no side affects to this medication. I trusted the Dr. and started and continued to use for 4-5 months. Noticed several changes over the months but didn't contribute to medication at first. Finally when I was so sensitive to light it felt like I was trying to focus through wax paper I stopped using and all symptoms disappeared within days. Eyes still somewhat sensitive to light but continue to improve. Dr. had told me to stay on them but I refused to. I'm feeling much better and my sight is getting back to "normal" for me.Read More Read Less

The drug does its job, but I waste half of it trying to get it in my eye. The pharmacy did not have one of those crutches that I once used with xalatan. Would like to know where to obtain one.

The medication did help to lower the pressure in my eyes after taking it for 3 weeks but the side affects where not worth it. My vision became very blurry , eyes very light sensitive(blue eyes) burning and very red. looked like I was crying all the time. Called dr. and was told to stop them and am waiting for my new eye drops to arrive.

Small bottle dispenses medication in large drops sometimes and sometimes very little. Too expensive to waste! Does an excellent job of controlling eye pressure!

The pressure in my eyes has gone down considerably. It is a little difficult to get the drop in the eye, and I sometimes miss! Leaves a "burning" feeling for several seconds, but now lasting. I am extremely grateful that my doctor prescribed it for me. The alternative is decreased eyesight, and maybe blindness so no matter what reactions I may have it is preferable to what could happen! (And yes, my eyelashes are a bit darker, fuller and longer...and that's not a bad thing!)

I haven't had any side effects with Xalatan. Although I think I've noticed my eye lashes getting longer or their being more of them, but I'm not sure. My pressure went from about 25 to 15. I ended up having to get another medication to get my pressure down further but overall I'd say Xalatan was very effective. I think it can be difficult to get the drop in just right considering the size of the bottle and the fact you have to hold your bottom eyelid open. But once you get whatever technique down that's comfortable for you, it's fairly easy to use. Just be careful not to waste any drops because the bottle doesn't include much extra for mishaps.Read More Read Less

Been on drops since I was 15. Thankfully they caught my high pressure early! First it was Timoptic for a couple years and now Xalatan for around 10 years. Reduced pressure from 32/33 to 18/19. No known side effects for me.

Ive been on this medicine for only 2 days. I wanted to journal my side effects to this drug because prior to taking it,I read so many adverse reactions to it that it really scared me , to the point of calling my doctor. So I want to give someone else another pattern of reaction experience to draw from. Im on vacation this week, so thats the reason for the late bedtimes. day 1)- drops put in at 11;15 pm. i didnt got to bed immediately, stayed up playing on computer till about 12;30am. felt some itching.next morning , 7;45am,-eyesballs very red(bloodshot). less by 2pm, by 4pm , no red. day 2)put drops in 11;17 pm. some itching.went to bed 12;45am. next morning 8;30,-eyesballs slightly red, but nowhere near as red as yesterday. Havent noticed any change in eyecolor. ( my eyes are blue, doc told me they may turn green, thats fine with me) day3 )--will report back tomorrow.Read More Read Less

Having used other eye drops such as travtan and lumigen xaltan seems to work the best for me although my pressure is still borderline because of thin corneas.
