I have been on this medication a little over 1 year. I am 62 years old. I have complained to my eye doctor about the pink eye symptoms, he gave me more eye drops to combat those sytoms and basically said liv e with it. But this week at work as a nurse, I began with sudden onset, debilitating and painful hip joint pain. It required steroids, percocet and xray When the xray was negative, I look...

After six days of using Xalatan, my eyes became extremely bloodshot, swollen, my eye lids are painful, dripping fluid and having my eyelids stuck together when I wake up in the morning. I can barely see out of my right eye. The left eye is not as effected. I do not intend to continue using this product.

Started Xalatan 2 days before going to Orlando - what a disaster. I have arthritis in my hips. The ache was incredible. At first I didn't realize it could be the eye drops. After about a week I stopped taking them (found out from my sister that joint pain was one of the side effects). Two days later I was fine. My wife is still angry that we didn't get to see any of the attractions. Now have new doctor who said it wasn't very effective anyhow (24/24 to 21/21). Now taking Alphagan P for about a week, so far so good. Also Note THIS: My sister's prescription from 2004 says it aggravates joint pain. Her current 2009 prescription has NO MENTION of the joint pain issue!Read More Read Less

Xalatan is the best!! You use it once a day compared to others. As far as expense goes, I order the generic on line. It's the only way I can afford it.

My glaucoma was detected early and I was advised to go on Xalatan to prevent later damage. After about six weeks I developed nausea and migraine like headaches. It seemed to change my glasses prescription and made it hard for me to adjust to new glasses. These sort of side effects seem uncommon but I have seen them listed elsewhere.

I do experience dry itching eyes, but at my eye doctors suggestion, I use Refresh Tears eye drops and this really helps. I also notice darkening skin on my eyelids and under my eye, but I don't mind this, because my glaucoma is under control and I can see!

I have used Xalatan for at least five years since I was told I had glaucoma. It has kept my pressure down and has had no side effects. I am happy with the drug.

I was using Lumigan before and it was quiet effecive in decreasing my eye pressure but after three years my doctor told me that Lumigan and Xalatan are very much same and I need to use xalatan to avoid side effects of Lumigan. I found that Xalatan is giving me bad headache when I get up in morning. I also found out that my blood pressure remains elevated. I will discuss this issues with my doctor on my next visit.

Xalatan decreased my ocular pressure from 31 to 15. That’s the great part. I had a strange pain that radiates from the center of my chest to the left side. The effect was bothersome while trying to go to sleep. I take the drops before I go to bed. My doctor told me to stop taking the drops for a week and see if the effect stops. the effect has stopped. I also had the effect of a strange almost flu like symptom with out getting sick. It’s a shame because the drug works. I will have to try something else. Please do not stop taking your drops without talking to your Dr. first.Read More Read Less

I have developed allergy after Xalatan application after two weeks on my left eye. The allergy was very bad when Xalatan and timolo were used on my right eye. The allergy has caused mild blurrness over my left cornea, but was severe blurrness on my right eye. It takes 8 weeks before the blurrness is completely eradicated after i stop using both drops. However, the pressure has come down from 21 to 16. I have stopped using Xalatan because of the allergy.

This medication is sooo... expensive. Fear of losing my eyesight is why I use this medication. How soon will a generic be available?

my only problem is discoloration of the eye lid, a red tinge on it that makes it appear as you have been crying.

This medication has been very effective in dropping my pressure from 23-26 to 13-14 in both eyes. I only wish that the cost would be lower or a generic drop could be developed. It's cost for retirees living on fixed incomes is quite high.

Women beware -I used Travatan (sister drug) for 3 weeks and found black hairs growing all over my face. Also my regular hair color is light brown, and found far longer hair on my fingers and arms/brown. The literature mentioned longer eye lashes would result from this drug, but I never expected this result. After much electrolysis and laser hair removal, I am getting back to normal. Just be advised - I wish I had been. Perhaps the drug manufacturer could revise this as a hair growth product!

The literature & docs don't tell all the nasty details about side-effects for Xalatan & latanoprost. In a nutshell, some are: red, itchy eyes & lids; "greasy" feeling to eyes & eye area; pimples/acne; increased anxiety; hair loss; cholesterol deposits around lids/orbital area; blurry vision; "raccoon-eyes"--darkening around eyes & lids, chest pain, and more. Also, the bottle is very small and it is very hard to squeeze a full drop out of it.

After taking this drug for 6 months I began experiencing muscle and joint pain. Not realizing it was the drug I continued for another 3 months until I began also having flu-like symtoms, blurred vision and then dizziness. This is a bad drug.

Xalatan has reduced pressure....but the side affects are extreme.I use them at bedtime and wake up with my eyelids glued shut, have extreme irritation and redness.I feel like I have sand in my eyes and worst of all my vision is so blurry I can't see to drive. My Dr. says I should stop complaining and be grateful that I have a drop that works.I am grateful !!! Thanks for letting me vent...best wishes to all
