I've had UC for 13 years and would have a flare-up twice a year for 2 to 3 months at a time, every year! (seasonal) This drug has gotten me off Prednisone which I loved too but wasn't healthy for me. My doctor gave me this drug and I love it! I've been in remission for the first time since I started this drug. I take 50mg daily and I have no side effects and I have my life back!!!!

This drug has been a life saver for me. I've taken it for 10 years and I have no intention of coming off of it. You must keep up with the testing, constant liver function, CAT Scans, MRI's, CBC...but so far so good. I wouldn't be alive without it.

I have crohns disease and I have been on this drug for 6 yrs. It has kept me in remission the whole time. I recently when off of in in hopes of having a family. The doctor said it would thake 4-6 weeks to get out of my system. Week 5 brought on a mild flare up. So, back on aza and and entocort I went. My questions now all revolve around the safety of taking this drug while being pregnant?

I have taken this drug for 8 years to treat autoimmune hepatitis. I tried after 7 years to go off of the drug and all the symptoms returned within one month. This drug does manage the symptoms well.

I have had crohns disease for 5 years now and within the first year of diagnosis had a right hemi colectomy. I ahve been on prednisone and other meds with no relief. After my surgery my doctor out me on this medication and I have been in remission since. I am very happy to have had this option as my condition was no longer manageable medication wise. Some symptoms I have is easy brusing, hair loss and very tired but they are manageable.

I was initially diagnosed with SLE, but was changed to Mixed Connectibe Tissue disease. This is my third try with Imuran. It makes me dizzy and I have diarrhea also. I have tried a couple of other medications, but nothing works, except prednisone. My main complaint is mouth sores and fatigue.

Doc added this to meds already taking for rheumatoid arthritis when I started experiencing hip pain (take with Arava and Voltaren). It has helped, but potential side effects are a concern to me.

I have had Crohn's disease for 14 years. I have been given multiple different meds over the years. Prednisone, mesalamine, sulfasalazine, and finally Imuran. I have been on 200mg of Imuran for over 4 years with no side effects. I had half of my colon removed 3 years ago due to scar tissue causing stricture.

I had been on the drug for a year. The side effects of prednisone were dibilatating. The first few months had nausea and GI issues. It helped my hypersensitive pneumonititis. I have been off it for a week and am having significant GI distress and total abdominal cramping and pain. Stiffness of joints, dull headache, panic attach, hot and cold. I'm hoping these withdrawal issues go away soon.

I have ITP (low platelets due to overactive immune system) and have taken 100mg/day of Azathioprine (Imuran) for two years to dull my immune system along with the prednisone. It was to raise my platelet counts but didn't really do much for it. I experienced abnormal abdominal swelling the doctors said must be from overeating even though I know that wasn't the case, even after I was weaned from Prednisone. I got a blood clot on my lung (shortness of breath) and the docs thought it was just a side effect of Imuran but it really was a PE. That put me on Coumadin and my platelet counts went up to the 130 range from as low as 2 when not on the blood thinner. The docs don't think this was the solution and won't take me off Imuran so I continue to swell so much I can't fit my clothes anymore and have gained a lot of weight. I don't know what to do now, but at least I don't have to worry about low platelets. Read More Read Less
