While this drug has eleviated my symptoms very effectively for over 5 years, I believe, I am very concerned with the things that my friends and collegues (many in the medical & health fields) have been saying. For example, taking the medicine usually takes care of the symptoms, but over time, it can cause one's thyroid to almost stop work completely (due to the drug doing all the work for it). Als...

I began with 50 mg and began having migraines almost daily. My dr recommended keeping a daily food diary, and I discovered I got a migraine within an hour of taking my Vit. E tablet each day. I got no migraine the days I forgot my Vit. E. I stopped taking Vit E, and after my levels being tested, dr. increased to 75 mg. Since the increase, I can't sleep more than 4 hrs., when I lie down I hear my blood pulsing in my ears, cold sweats, hot flashes. I see the dr. next week to decide how to proceed. The only benefit, a little more energy.Read More Read Less

It just takes along time for the medication to actually start working (Months). I feel better then I did but still have dry skin, hair loss etc. Weight wise, it helped alot but agian, it takes along time.

Still have a lot of the symptoms like extreme mood swings, and dry skin. Other symptoms like hair loss and loss of apetite seemed to have gotten worse. Pain in the butt, being a college student, to try to wake up at the same time of day to take meds.

I have been overly tired since taking this medication (150mg daily) and I have trouble breathing. Having to take it in the morning on an empty stomach, 1-1/2 hours before consuming anything which includes coffee with cream is rather inconvenient. I usually have to wake up at 5 am, take the medication, then go back to bed for a couple of hours.

I just recently had a total thyroidectomy because of graves disease. I have now been on this med for 4 weeks. I have had graves disease for about 6 years and i had 2 very large doses of radioactive iodine because i had a large goiter and it was not getting better. My surgeon was wonderful and did a great job. I was pregnant when we decided that I would have surgery and since I was having a baby I could not have the radioactive iodine again and be around him with no guarantee of working. The only bed side effect I have found so far is being a lot more tired and the hair loss is a lot to deal with, but hopefully it will subside soon. My dose is .125 a day. I have just been a lot more tired since the surgery, more so than when my baby just came home. I'm waiting on my lab results now, but I hope this was helpful for someone looking for this info.Read More Read Less

Been using it for 5 years or so, easy to use once each morning, all subsequent test results have in the normal range.

This is the second time i have been on a thyroid med. The first i was on levethryoid. It worked wonderful, I was put on the 100 mcg at first and I lost 30 lbs in a month, then they reduced it to 85mcg. That was perfect. I felt great, my hair loss subsided, my appetite returned, and I maintained my weight. This time they put me on 50 mcg. so I am not sure how the long term will work. But overall I have had a great experience with this type of meds.

My thyroid levels fluctuate, so my dosage changes often. Monthly blood tests are worse than taking the medication!

Have taken this over 4 years. Had an allergic reaction at first...itchiness behind knees and under arms. Seems to cause hyperthyroid symptoms and hypothyroid symptoms. My levels are normal now but we experimented for over a year to get dosage right. I still have blood tests often to check it. It seems to be a volatile drug...causing many side effects, but does help regulate thyroid levels. I feel better by taking it, but I'm concerned about side effects and long term usage.
