I have had 6 monthly injections in my left eye so far, and my doctor is very pleased. The sight was 20/80 when I started treatment, and is now 20/32. He said I should continue to take the treatments.

After 5 injections, I experienced no improvement at all. There's still fluid behind the macula. It's time to try Avastin so the drug companies should not be the only ones benefitting from this expensive medication[Lucentis]

Diagnosis: persistent cystoid macular odema secondary to RP. I have odema in both eyes - worse in the right. Had 1 lucentis injection in right without improvement to my blurry vision, which continu. to worsen. V. painful exp. with 1st injection - red eye, severe pain for days, watery eye, v. wavy & decreased vision. Had another lucentis injection today but this time into my left eye - injection wasn't painful and only slight red eye. Consultant has given up fighting odema in right eye as too persistent. Has anyone had a similar experience? Know of any other treatment options? For 4 years I've been taking Diamox, Trusopt, various other steriods, even an injection of steriods directly into my right eye. Please help, I'm only 24 years old!Read More Read Less

This drug along with a most excellent Doctor has saved my mother sight for the past three years. She lost most of her sight in her left eye due to another condition (she is 81). Her right eye maintains 20/30, with a slight improvement in both eyes this treatment. I highly recommend this drug for anyone with Wet Macular Degeneration.

The injection into my eye is very painful and I have severe pain for up to 6-7 hours following the procedure even with the use of an anesthetic.

I suddenly lost vision in my left eye. fortunately, I am part of an AMD study so went the next day to see my retinologist who gave me an injection of lucentis. I've h ad three so far and my vision is virtually back to normal. We have postponed the fourth injection to see how it goes. I experienced little discomfort during or after the injection.

Diadnosed with wet macular degeneration from a complication due to central serous retinopathy. have had 4 injections in left eye with minor vision improvement only on 4th one. only had one bleed but have awful reaction about an hour later. feels like eye is blocked. my nose blocks also and feels like blocked sinuses or similar. and have ache behind eye on and off all the time. also now get irritated eye on and off for few weeks after injection. i'm only 54 and hate it all .... am too vain to not be able to put make up on properly. maybe i'll consider eye liner tattoo. has anyone else had that done? am still working and driving as other eye is ok so far. but have already had episodes of central serous retinopathy in it. I may eventually be legally blind but ..... "NOT TODAY".Read More Read Less

AMD right eye. Avastin 1 year followed by Lucentis one year. No improvement (although my doctor thinks this is the improvement). Suffer from headaches and itching since switching to Lucentis. Thinking about stopping treatment.

My vision was 20/200. I have had only 2 injections. I have tears and a lot of pain for at least 8hrs. My eye is sensitive to light and still pains a great deal. I hope this gets better.

In 2008 I had five injectionn of Lucentis in the Right eye for wet ARMD. Vison was good (20/20) and remained good. Wavy lines disappeared. Had very uncomfortable swelling, redness, itching, tearing of the eye, along with long lasting dicoloration of the skin around the eye. In March 2010, had one injection in left eye with similar reaction of the eye. Wet ARMD was diagnosed with photographs. I questioned allergy to Lucentis right along. In April 2010, I had 2nd injection in left eye. Seven hours later I experienced cardiac fibrillation. Diagnosis "supraventricular tachycardia" (fibrillation) - "probably reaction to Lucentis." Vision was good at start and remains good. Now concerned that the drug remains effective for 45 days, during which time I am at risk of serious side effects, including stroke. Blindness or stroke is no choice. An antidote is needed.Read More Read Less

I am pleased with the success of the Lucentis injections. I do not like the two weeks of swelling, drying and itching experienced in treated eye. Is this unique or are others having same results?

My father 69, was diagonised with WetAMD, after he lost his right eye, 3 lucentis injections were given every month to the left one, there were inital signs of improvement, but didn't last very long. After 6 months yesterday he went for his 4th injection, says no improvement so far. He's almost going blind and shelling out a lot $$$, quite unhappy. From our experience chances of this injection working when diagonised at a late stage are minimal. We are hoping for the best, but he's very depressed about progressively losing his vision. Any feedback or input from the users would be helpful. Read More Read Less

Left eye. 3 Avastin,no effect; about 12 Lucentis, short term effect clearing then fading associated with foging after 10 to 14 days. I'd like injections twice a month at least temporarily to see if it helps.

Receiving tx. for 3 years.Disease progression controlled. wondering if users of lucentis have experienced fainting, fatigue, increased urination, drop in blood pressure. Have had 2 hospital stays thinking fainting was "cardiac". Neuro.,Cardiac,MRI,CT Scan all neg. Could it be side effects from lucentis ? Have a friend with similar complaints. MD & I stumped. Would love feedback.

My Dad is taking this treatment. The treatmene has helped retain his vision, without further damage. However, an insurance scheme was initiated to ensure that we can afford the treatment - since it is exhorbitantly priced. The hassle with the Drug Co + the Insurance provider is such that I'm unable to avail the reimbursement for the money spent. Did any of you go thru similar experience?

It came on suddenly. I accidentally covered my left eye and NOTHING. I was blind. With quick treatment I began noticing improvements and after 4 injections am close to 20/20. Thanks Dr.Chu, Dr.Assad, Saint Michael's Hospital Toronto and the Canadian health plan.
