I'm maxed out on metformin (850 mg 3x/day) and glyburide (5mg 4x/day). Januvia, even without the other 2 meds, had my readings in the desired ranges in a day. It's only been 5 days, but so far VERY GOOD! Thanks!

My blood sugar reading soared above 200. Tried letting system get used to meds but never was effective in lowering blood sugar reading in fact reading got worse.

Diagnosed 2/2015 and put on insulin and Metformin. I have had issues with Metformin from day one. A1C starting was 11.7. Change of diet, exercise and added Januvia a few months after. & months in and A1C is at 6 but steady abdominal issues continue to increase. This started before Januvia. Going to see about removing or reducing Metformin. My life is hell right now. Sure my sugar levels average 85 to 110 but not worth the constant cramping and diarrhea. Jury still out here but seeing as it started with Metformin, that's where I am starting. Reading up on Berberine 500mg homeopathic (NOT a drug),for future reference. Read More Read Less

Within a couple of days of starting the medication, I began having headaches and upper respiratory issues. I took the drug for 2 weeks & discontinued as the side effects were becoming debilitating. Within 24-36 hours of discontinuing the drug, the side effects went away. I would not recommend this drug due to the side effects. However, it did bring my blood sugar numbers down from the low-200's to the 140's. If you can deal with the possibility of side effects, the drug is effective.

taken for one month in efforts to control out of control blood sugar levels. Immediately noticed increased thirst to the point it became severe - me carrying a 32 ounce glass full and drinking it constantly (up to two gallons a day of liquid) and yeast infection appeared. Changed medication to another brand. Was not a good experience at all! Weight gain because of excessive fluid intake.

Where do I start. I have been taking Januvia for about 7 years. Started out good controlling sugar levels with my insulin. Gradually over time the symptoms have gotten worse. I am tired all the time. Muscle pain and weakness. Congested all the time. Trouble breathing. Trouble sleeping. Blurry vision. Constipation. Swelling of legs and feet. I have also gained about 40 lbs since I started taking it. I could go on but needless to say I am fed up with it. I am stopping today!

My husband took this for about one month.(metaformin for a month before until stomach issues were a problem.) Januvia made him like a zombie. Chronic fatigue, always sleeping, vacant look on his face, no zest for life. Now he is taking actos, it's been 2 weeks, but these side effects haven't changed. See the Dr soon to see if there are other issues happening. I wonder how others are faring on the medication. I'm exhausted and frustrated from googling.

Nothing but shooting insulin has ever lowered my sugar levels. I starting taking this drug and it has dropped my sugar level to normal levels and I have lost 30 pounds.

My husband took 100mg Januvia for 10 days with no obvious side effects until today. He is retaining fluid and when weighing himself gained 14 pounds without eating differently. Being active and preoccupied over the holidays masked this gradual change. It should be taken off the market and reevaluated by the FDA.

I'm on two insulins (Lexapro and Novolog) and then took Januvia, also. Rash developed after about one and half months. Severe itching and swollen face and hands and feet. Don't eat salt. Did lower blood sugar some. Metformin used to work good, but stomach pains, etc. Had to go on insulin.

I have been on it for almost a year and it hasn't improved my sugars or A1C very much. But it has been effective at causing weight gain, erectile dysfunction which I never had before (I'm 40) even with high blood sugar. It's very expensive but fortunately I have good drug coverage and pay a $70 copay for 90 days worth.

All this medicine has done is give me a rash. Swollen face, massive shivers, not any fun. Oh yea here is the plus, it has RAISED my numbers by over 25 %. I would never recommend this drug to anyone.

The price of this drug is unreal!!! Doubled in price, and with insur., in 2 months. Can't see that it is effective in keeping my night-time sugars down.

I think it's a crime to charge $395 for 30 pills. What is really confusing is that they won't let me use their coupon even though my insurance pays them $320 every month. I have a copay of $75 and thought the drug company could pick up $70 of that so I would pay the $5 that other consumers pay. It seems like the middle class is not being treated fairly. Rich people can afford the pills and poor people get them for almost nothing. Why do those of use in the middle class have to pay $10 a pill?? Read More Read Less

I have not felt well since taking this medication.I've been on it now for just over two months..I have noticed my vison has been affected and not in a good way..Eyes were tested in June,no problem.Started taking it in july now I am unable to read the paper. Also it claims it does not make your sugar level drop, mine does it's got as low as 45 then when it goes up I get the same symptems ,no difference between high and low. I really dislike this medication. Just feel tired and sick all the time

Was taking Metformin and was extremely fatigued, began having bad dreams, night sweats, and was losing weight. Doc changed me to Januvia along with Amaryl (Glimepiride.) Have been taking Januvia for four months. No noticeable side effects, but my blood sugars have not changed for the better.
