I have been able to run longer and with more ease using this medication. My concerns the soreness that I experience after running and the weight that I continue to gain. I exercise on a regular basis, eat right but since I started using this medication I can't seem to control my weight which wasn't a problem before.

I rarely needed albuterol, and didn't have problems inhaling, but experienced chest tightness with mild exercise. Dr. prescribed Symbicort and, later, Spiriva. I've not noticed any significant change in symptoms, and now in donut hole to tune of $200/mo!. Disappointed!

My insurance removed Advair from my formulary and forced me to try Symbicort several months ago. I used Symbicort sporadically until about three weeks ago when I began to need it every day. I developed an unusual cough and had to use my rescue inhaler daily as well, which was not normal on Advair. Suddenly, I broke out in an itchy rash on my forearms and knees. Symbicort was the only change to my medications that may have caused the allergic reaction, so I stopped it and fought with ExpressScripts to reinstate my Advair coverage and they finally agreed. I am breathing normally on Advair again with no coughing and no rescue inhaler use. I am very unhappy that ExpressScripts became so involved in my healthcare and I had to suffer for it. I pay a fee to ExpressScripts to provide insurance coverage for me and they should never be involved in the medical decisions I make with my physician regarding my medications.Read More Read Less

Works good for COPD. Side effects is terrible. Urinary retention and nervousness. I hope I never have to take anything with steroids in it again.

i was on Advair and had not used a rescue inhaler for many years. Because express-scripts thought Advair was too expensive for them I had to switch to Symbicort. This product does not work for me. I cannot get my breath, and my blood pressure is dangerously high. I take blood pressure medication but never had trouble while on Advair. I have gained 10 lbs since last summer. I feel terrible. My family doctor is sending me to a cardiologist in February, but I now see that it is the Symbicort that is causing my trouble. Read More Read Less

Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Thats what going around in life was like for me 24/365 for about 2,3 years. Found i had COPD in 6 months ago after being hospitalized. I have been on Symbicort for 6 months, once in the morning, once at night. Seems to work very good. The 4 second holding breathe is not there any longer however about 4-5pm in the day,i do seem to have a lapse at times like 'fainting','being out of it feeling',not sure how to describe it,then it goes away. Told the Doc of course. By the way, never smoked, never lived with smokers, its not genetics, so it is a mystery to doctors how i got COPD. My son is 11 years old and took Symbicort for a little over a year. Initially it did help with his asthma but his appetite increased and this led to a fairly rapid weight gain. He also began coughing more for about 30 minutes after taking the medicine and he appears to be more susceptible to viral / bacterial respiratory infections. He is now stopping Symbicort because the side effects for him are worse then the asthma.

I was taking Symbicort for a little over a week when I begun to feel congested. After that I developed a sore throat, hoarse voice, and cough along with not being able to breathe AT ALL through my nose due to congestion. I decided to stop using it to see if it was the reason why, and sure enough, within a day or two of being off Symbicort I healed up. I also tried Advair prior to this which made me suicidal and anxious, along with rapid heartbeat.

I have sarcoidosis in the lungs and cough quite a bit. Still on prednisone but this inhaler is helping. Way too expensive though, my only complaint.

I have taken Advair for about 18 years and have not used a rescue inhaler for at least 15 years. In fact, I wondered if I even had asthma. Because Advair is no longer cost-effective for my insurance company, I was recently switched to Symbicort, which I have been using for a month. I now regularly gasp for air and often have a tight, heavy feeling in my chest combined with wheezing. I now know for certain that I have asthma and that Symbicort is NOT effective in treating it.

I had a severe asthma attack that led me to be in a coma for 10 days. I take Symbicort twice a day and the only real side affect I have is bleeding gums.

After taking Symbicort for about 7-8 years, I got severe chest infections, severe foot and ankle tendonitis; severe leg cramps; huge weight gain; feeling of exhaustion whenever I tried to exercise, instead of exhilaration as I used to get; I hate to think of the damage this dangerous drug has done to my bones, organs and arteries. I expect it has severely messed with my lungs and blood absorption. It is better to cough and live with a little asthma and allergies than take drugs. I take no drugs and use all natural health approaches. I hope Symbicort has NOT permanently damaged by body's ability to recover and regenerate naturally.Read More Read Less

Took this for only one day. One puff in the AM one before bed. Kept waking up in the night because I couldn't breath. Felt the same way in the AM Felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. Bearly breathing.Called Dr. was told not to use it anymore and would take 24hrs to leave my system. should have gone to the ER, But Breathing improved hourly. Maybe not right for me. Doesn't mean it's not right for you.

Symbicort worked fine for my COPD BUT, I now have blurred eye vision, high blood pressure and respiratory problems and a hard hacking cough. Three ophthalmic physicians/surgeons, an optometrist and the Symbicort (Astro Zeneca company) do not know what to do about the blurred vision. As a avid reader and a writer I am very upset about this. I switched meds, joined a gym and my blood pressure is much lower. My respiratory problem goes on and on with no relief, the cough is most upsetting for others to hear. I will not be recommending Symbicort for to others to ask their doctor about anymore. I am reporting this to my health in surer and the health officials in my area. It is very expensive in Canada, more so with these problemsRead More Read Less

Very crampy calf muscles, contracting even during the day. Worse at night time, having had several leg cramps in a span of a week, sometimes twice in one night.

I began Symbicort two months ago, and have needed my rescue inhaler maybe a half dozen times within that time. My doctor is pleased with my response to this drug since it helps loosen the secretions and makes breathing easier.
